Learning about Cavoodles

My cavoodle dog, Blue, is now one year old. He's got a great nature and is wonderful with kids and other dogs. The good feedback comes from groomers and dog lovers of all shapes and sizes.

Anyway, over the last year, I've been receiving several questions and enquiries about buying, finding, and raising cavoodles because of my blog post, Cavoodle Cuddle. It was a journal entry that documented the beginnings of my family's life with Blue.

So, yes, I'm not an expert. But, since I've been reading about cavoodles and had been living with one for some time now, I thought I'd share what I know and have found about this fantastic breed of dog.

Please feel free to post questions, share stories and more in the Guestbook area of this lens if you're also interested in cavoodles.

What is a Cavoodle?

Just Your Basic Introduction

Blue The CavoodleThe cavoodle is a mixed breed of dog. It's a mixture of Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Miniature Poodle.

Appearance: They may either be gold, black, white, blenheim (mixture of chestnut and white), or mixed black-white-tan. They grow up to 12 to 14 inches in height. They tend to have long, floppy ears (like Spaniels). And hair may be either wavy or curly.

Character: They tend to be very friendly and intelligent. Very good with kids, which make them ideal for families. They love being with people and always long for company.

Where To Get a Cavoodle?

Buying or Finding Your Own Cavoodle Puppy or Dog

These are just some ideas and tips. Please note that I cannot make specific recommendations on this matter. I encourage you to do your own research by calling your local pet or animal centres.

1) Animal Shelters. Check if you can save a dog or a puppy from your local shelter.

2) Specialised Breeders. This is how we got Blue. But, no I don't have the breeder's information. We just found them through an advertisement in the local paper. I urge you to check your newspaper listings too.

3) Pet Shops. They tend to go very quickly from pet shops. So, you might want to place an 'order' in a pet shop that you trust.
