- Very interesting! I've used cayenne pepper medicinally on occasion but wasn't aware of all the uses. I love adding it to Indian dishes and salad dressings -- though I've had to significantly limit my use of it now that I have little ones I'm cooking for.

- I didn't know about the healing properties of cayenne peppers. Really learned a lot here. Thank you for expanding my knowledge and for inspiring me to do more cooking with a spicy kick to it. Appreciated!

- Recognized it in the HOT shrimp cup of ramen noodles soup as the main fire and have been in love ever since! Use it in soups, stews, over left over mashed potatoes & cheese - anywhere you might us black pepper! - in fact I love it more than black pepper now - different kind of heat. cayenne hits the back of the throat with a nice warmth but doesn't burn or linger too long - rather mellow - whereas crushed black pepper cooked in food ie chili can really make it burning hot. - My opinion anyway. Love to hear more ideas for using!

- It is a regular staple here at my house--both as a food and for medicine.
Here's a really cool fact you may not know about your favorite spice: Use it to stop bleeding or nosebleeds! That's right, it will do both.
Visit my lens www.squidoo.com/mouth-on-fire-stops-the-flow for more on this amazing quality!

- Wow! Great info. I have never used it for medicinal purposes, but then I never knew about them. As a huge fan of cajun and creole cooking, cayenne is a major ingredient which I use often. It just wouldn't be the same without it.

- Some of us like it hot, and hot is good. Lots of good info on cayenne in your Lens site. I sprinkle it on my whole grain bulgar wheat cereal for breakfast. What a way to start the day. Start out running and not just for water, and keep on going all day long.

- Great and useful lens! I used to get leg cramps most every night, so I searched for a natural remedy and found cayenne pepper. I now use it every day in water or tea because, lo and behold, cayenne pepper scared the cramps away immediately never to return. It's also supposed to help with heart attacks as a first defense while waiting for an ambulance.

- I lensrolled you on my Monkeybrain lens about whether you like your foods spicy or mild. You've got another fun and interesting lens here. I like to use a dash of cayenne in my spaghetti sauce.

- Bring on the spice, Julie! I just starred you and lensrolled to my Hot Sauce! lens.
The only thing I can't handle with cayenne is the actual pills for metabolism, they really upset my stomach

- I read about cayenne and heart health years ago. But after Tim Russert died so suddenly from heart failure, I decided to seriously give it a try. I'm having 1/2 teaspoon of the pepper in 8 ounces of hot water daily. (It takes me a while to consume, but I'm slowly getting used to it!) I'd list the benefits thus far, but they are truly too numerous to list and I've got to take some time to look for some info on cayenne in regard to bug bites. So, happy to have found your site and I'll be back! Oh, I'll mention one benefit and it's for the ladies ... (your husbands will be much happier:))

- Is there anything more wonderful than the aroma and taste of sweet capsicum wafting from a Hungarian Goulash!!
Now that I'm vegetarian I even enjoy the mushroom meatless version as long as it has loads of sweet hungarian capsicum spice in it!
