Little Cayman: Divers' Paradise in the British West Indies
If you've explored a sample of the thousands of dive locations all over the world and done your homework, you will quickly place the Little Cayman on your "absolutely must dive" list. And for experienced divers, the "Bloody Bay Wall" found in Little Cayman, is something magical with a reputation that really sets it apart.
With its fantastic biodiversity of marine life and natural habitats, it offers the best diving in the Caymans. Its crystal waters are home to hundreds of different marine and aquatic species. Divers who visit, experience a sea floor that has an approximate depth of 25 feet before experiencing a sudden and massive 6000 ft. drop which opens up the breathtaking Bloody Bay Wall, dubbed as one of the Seven Underwater Wonders of the Diving World.
If you are a dive enthusiast who has yet not explored the waters of the Bloody Wall, you will find that there is more to this place than just your average diving spot. Like all the great centers, there is in Little Cayman a great choice of excellent dive sites for all levels of divers that offer glorious conditions and magnificent marine life.

Dive Spots in Little Cayman
1. Three Fathom Wall
The Mixing Bowl of Little Cayman

At Three Fathom Wall, which derives its name from three fathoms (approximately 18 feet) in depth, new or fairly inexperienced divers can start with a stunning snorkeling experience. The Mixing Bowl, as it is also known by others, allows divers to explore Bloody Wall's vertical depths and the sandy patches of Jackson Bay. Take note that Three Fathom has two sides to it; namely the East and West. Marine life such as sharks, turtles, sting rays, eagle rays and many other micro fish organisms can be seen on these sides of the wall which is also a popular spot for a night dive.

2. Marilyn's Cut in Little Cayman
The Hole in the Wall

Another interesting must-experience dive site in Little Cayman is Marilyn's Cut or the Hole in the Wall as others have come to know it by. This spot is home to two famous groupers which divers have given names: Benji and Freddie. You can consider yourself lucky if you encounter one of these friendly creatures on your dive. Some divers have compared them to little puppies as they love to have their tummies tickled. These are seriously BIG fish and if you haven't bunoed in to one before it will be a real experience.
Take note that this area derived its name because it is situated in a cut that separates into two canyons in the reef. It is generally a hole in the wall where you are able to explore yellow and red tube sponges along with the various other marine life that circles the area. The vertical landscape is extraordinary.

3. The Magic Roundabout
Nancy's Cup of Tea
Now, here is a favourite for those who love corals in all their magical complexities. Magic Roundabout, also known by its other name, Nancy's Cup of Tea, is geographically situated west of Jackson's Point and South of Little Cayman. Here, divers can experience enormous coral pinnacles that they can circle around and around and thus the name Magic Roundabout. The marine life here ranges from coral trees, elephant ear corals, various colored tube sponges. If you haven't seen it, you simply won't believe the varieties and cutting colours. The usual gangs of Nassau groupers, bigeyes, and glassfishes putz about to add dimension. Although there are many more species of critters that can be seen here, you may occasionally come across bigger smilers like reef sharks and rays if you are lucky.

See how enticing it is
Diving in the Caymans is quite an experience. There are sites with wrecks that you can explore. Visibility is also good and marine life is abundant.
4. Bloody Bay Wall
Randy's Gazebo
If you have more time to explore Bloody Bay Wall, you must dive in Randy's Gazebo. Another name divers have come to call this spot is The Chimney. From the name itself you've guessed that it forms a shape of a chimney that is approximately 40 feet wide and 40 feet in depth. This is where you really get the thrill of three dimensional movement, more like being a falcon than a land bound human. You can further explore the area with depths of up to 70 feet (well within the safety range for diving) where you can tour the various mini chimneys along the way. This is where you will discover the famous limestone archway in which divers swim with turtles, durgons, butterfly fishes, and all the other rainbow herd that live in the area. What is interesting about this spot is that you are also able to view magnificent barrel sponges, anemones, and yellow tube sponges.

5. Grundy's Gardens
Excellent sightseeing
Divers visiting Little Cayman should check out Grundy's Gardens which is known to be good for greater depths and excellent sight-seeing. This half sand - half gravel site was discovered and named after the marine conservator Mike Grundy. It is home to aquatic life such as barracudas, halfbeaks, and marine worms and has a maximum depth of at least 30 meters and a visibility factor at an estimated 40 meters. Remember though, you lose a lot of the colour spectrum at this depth so be ready for shades of blue.
