Celebrating National Ice Cream Month
July
In 1984, President Ronald Reagan designated July as National Ice Cream Month and the third Sunday of the month as National Ice Cream Day. He recognized ice cream as a fun and nutritious food that is enjoyed by a full 90% of the nation's population. In the proclamation, President Reagan called for all people of the United States to observe these events with "appropriate ceremonies and activities."»§«,,,,.·'_`·.,,,,.·'_`·.»§«,,,,.·'_`·.»§«
On July 23, 1904, Charles E. Minches of St. Louis, Missouri, came up with the idea of filling a pastry cone with two scoops of ice cream, thereby inventing the ice cream cone. The walk-away cone made its debut later that year at the St. Louis World's Fair.
Other sources note the ice cream cone was in use in Paris in 1807, making 2007 the bicentenary of the cone.

That's funny... I simply adored cherry ice cream the minute I got pregnant and the minute I got a craving, I knew. The rest of the time I love Maple Walnut. That was also my Mom's favorite. I guess genetics can play a part in your preference! Posted May 24, 2008 |
