Celebrating Their Life Instead Of Mourning Their Departure
Traditionally, mourning a person is a very somber, serious and sad activity. You know those black suit and dress funeral services with a church music that makes your heart cry, the quiet times spent at the open or closed casket of the deceased, and overall the heavy atmosphere that usually surrounds such an event.
Recently however there has been noticed a departure from this black doom and gloom activity in many cultures around the world. The African-American tradition is already different, and it has been for many years. Here people are joyful, laughing and happy overall.
This is because they are celebrating the life of the departed one, they remember the good things the person brought to their life, instead of mourning a loss.

Provides a brief description of what the Day of the Dead holiday is, how it started, and ways people celebrate it.
Day Of The Dead Celebration
During this day (usually on November 2), people spend their time remembering their dead. Depending on the country, there are various celebrations held, however the commons points are these: people dress in somber clothes, have cakes and wine prepared, and go to the cemetery to tend to their dead by cleaning the headstones, placing flowers and candles, and giving wine and cakes (cookies) to the beggars who gather at the cemetery dead.
At home, in most countries they place an extra plate at the dinner table, with a lit candle, and many people put bread and wine in front of the plate. it is said that this is the day when the dead visit their loved ones one last time, before heading from Purgatory (where their souls were kept for purification) up to Heaven.

- Hello Marcia -
I am impressed at how much in-depth material you have on your lens here. I just began to build mine. It' in a related topic that I became interested in after we lost a couple family members who were not prepared financially. Their kids had to pick up the slack.
My wife and I decided we didn't want our kids to be placed in a similar situation and we began gathering info on Burial Insurance.
You lens looks like a great resource. I will remember it when I need it. (Hopefully not too soon).

- Emma, I guess I haven't even consider it that way. I didn't realize that for many people it is a subject that they try to avoid. Ever since I've been involved in the spiritual, paranormal and especially trying to learn about my past lives, I've become less afraid of death, and i consider it just part of life.
