Celebrity Fitness Secrets!

Wondering how to be fit and healthy again? Fitness Equipment Guru
gives you expert advice on keeping fit after you hit 40!

Let's take a peek at what the celebrities are doing!

Celebrity Fitness Secrets!

How do celebrities do it? Some are into their 40s, but they definitely don't look it!

So what's their secret? Read on...

Most of them have personal trainers. Julia Roberts(41), Michelle Pfeiffer(50), and Cindy Crawford(42) for instance, all share someone in common: their personal trainer, Kathy Kaehler.

And they're not the only ones. There have been hoards of celebrity trainers going around, with the likes of David Kirsch, Greg Bahnfleth, Daniel Loigerot, Gunnar Peterson and so on.. well, you get the drift.

But wait, if you think you need a personal trainer to stay fit and look good, well you're wrong. Here, we've gathered some useful celebrity tips on how to stay fit! Personal Trainer or not, here we go!

1. Throw a deck of cards on the floor and squat and pick them up one by one. (tip from Kaehler - Cindy Crawford's trainer)

2. Who ever said cycling was boring?! Madonna cycles! It burns more than 500 calories an hour when you're going at a moderate pace. Plus, it sculpts the abs, legs, AND butt.

3. Run for a cause! Meredith Vieira often participates in charity runs/walks. Find a friend to go with you: it's fun and its for a good cause. (there's the motivation =)

4. Do a combination exercise! Do you get bored doing the same thing for hours? Do what Sheryl Crow does, and cross-train. The most common combination is probably running and cycling, but you can do it any way you like! Why not add in swimming as well?

5. Identify the key to weight loss.
Bob Greene says "It's all about intensity. If people really want to lose weight, they must exercise vigorously for at least 20 minutes, five days a week, in what I call `the results zone.' That is, on a scale of zero to ten, you should be exercising at a level of seven or eight. Your breathing is deep and you could carry on a conversation, but you would probably prefer not to. Be sure to work up to this level gradually. It may be a good idea to exercise with a qualified exercise professional for at least your first couple of sessions." (wow) check out his website here

Keeping fit and healthy isn't just about exercising though, eating healthy is important too. Check out what these over 40s eat to compliment their exercise regime.

Oprah Winfrey:
Oprah works out five days a week, and she eats legumes, fish, nuts, fruits and vegetables, and low-fat chicken and dairy products.
She also limits her consumption of white sugar and flour, and doesn't eat anything after seven in the evening.

Madonna:
She avoids junk food in general, and adopts a macrobiotic eating plan that includes organic foods that are rich in lean protein.

Christie Brinkley:
Super model Christie Brinkley maintains her good looks by being a vegetarian. She avoids junk food as well (she doesn't even keep them inside her home so she wont be tempted). When she does snack, she snacks on sweet potatoes.

So you see, celebrities are just like you and me! If they can look good after 40, there's no reason why you cant do the same!
