Celebrities, we love to love them, we love to hate them and we love to hear all of the latest gossip about them! We cry with them, we laugh with them and we laugh at them! There's a world wide fascination with the ups and downs of celebrity life! But, why do we care so much about what our favorite or un-favorite stars do, or don't do?

Just like movies and television shows are entertaining, the every day lives of Hollywood's stars are also entertaining. Being famous seems to make even the most mundane activities entertaining! Since we don't see them as ordinary people, when they do ordinary things it's interesting!

We idealize celebrities, place them on a pedestal and assume that with all their fortune and fame, they have the perfect lives. With jets, countless cars, unlimited budgets, designer clothes and exotic vacations, celebrities get to live the kind of life that most people can only dream of!

Celebrities seem to live in a parallel universe from the one that normal people live in. Few people live in a world with such glamour, money and fame that these "larger than life" stars have. They seem to have it all and everyone seems to be interested in what they're doing with it!

With their seemingly idealistic, fairy tale lives, we tend to place them on a pedestal. But, when celebrity gossip hits the front page, it turns celebrities into ordinary people. The idea that their perfect lives aren't so perfect after all makes them more real and not the gods and goddesses many people believe them to be.

Like we get entranced with their movies, we get caught up in their lives as a way to escape from the reality of our own for awhile. With month long marriages and even some that just lasted hours or days, they seem to make our lives not so complicated and unhappy!

Often, we seem to relate to celebrities. Not because our lives are so much like theirs, but because we've seen them so often that we feel as though we know them. They've been in our living rooms, we've watched them as they started a struggling career and made it to stardom. We've watched them succeed and we've watched them fail.

Of course, one of the main reasons that everyone loves to read about what is going on in celebrities lives is that it gives them something to talk about! Gossip is and always will be a favorite pastime! We love the juicy little tidbits of their latest, wildest exploits and their eccentric lifestyles!

They seem to have it all, yet they all go through rough times just like the rest of us. In a sad way, their lives reinforce the fact that money can't buy you love and happiness. It reassures us that even though we may not have everything we want, our lives are often happier than the rich and famous!
