Paula Deen

Paula Deen was born in Albany Georgia on January 19, 1947. By age 23 both her parents had passed away and her husband decided to move on. In 1986 she and her two sons moved to Savannah and she expanded her cooking into the catering business. Then in 1996 her business was a success with her wonderful southern style cooking she opened her own restaurant "The Lady and Sons". In 1997 Paula self published her first book "The Lady & Sons Savannah Country Cooking and The Lady & Sons Savannah Country Cooking 2" then in 1999 Paula was introduced to Gordon Elliott of the Food Network which opened up her television career.

Savannah GA is where the great Paula Deen is located. Her famous resturant is located in the historic area of downtown Savannah. Savannah is filled with Southern hospitality just like Paual Deen and her resturant and Savannah has been welcoming guest with charm since since 1773.

The Lady and Sons Resturant

The Lady and Sons Resturant owned by Paula Deen began in 1989 when she started The Bag Lady out of her home. The Bag Lady began as a lunch delivery service with Paula's sons, Jamie and Bobby, delivering bag lunches to area business people in their offices around town. As the delivery and catering business grew, The Bag Lady expanded in 1991 into a full service restaurant named The Lady in the Best Western hotel on Savannah's Southside.
With The Lady's lease running out at the Best Western in 1995, Paula was faced with a new obsticle and they opened the resturant called the "The Lady and Sons".
In December 1999, The Lady & Sons was named "International Meal of the Year" by USA Today. In December 2002, the restaurant was featured in a multi-page feature article in Southern Living Magazine. In 2003, the restaurant was named Georgia's Small Business of the Year. And in September of the same year, The Lady & Sons was honored with 1st Runner-Up for National Small Business of the Year at the SBA Awards Ceremony in Washington, DC.

Over the next several years, Paula began acquiring property for the next home of The Lady & Sons just down the street in the old White Hardware Building.
With the move in 2003, The Lady & Sons went from 85 seats to nearly 330 seats in the new location at 102 W Congress St.
