How many anytime minutes are you allowed each month and if there is unlimited nights and weekends? How much the cost per minute extra if you go over your minutes? This is a real gotcha!

Do they have good coverage in your area and other areas that you will be making calls? Check out their web site for their coverage. Also, ask people you know their opinion on their carrier and if they get good reception (signals) and call quality and if they get dropped calls a lot.

Do they have extra free features such as text messaging, web access, etc.?

Do they require a contract and have an early termination fee? Do they have a trial period?

Do they have a good selection of cell phones with features that fill your needs?

How is their customer service? Is it easy to get a hold of a real person to talk to?

T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T have the best rated cell services, but have $99/mon unlimited plans, which don't even have as many features as Cricket Wireless. I, personally do not have Cricket Wireless because I am still under contract with T-Mobile.
