Like this a lot, sent it out to google plus, put it on my pin board for "doing good."

Has the fact that there are so many used cell phones out there waiting to be recycled made anyone consider making money? I know that some of these are recycled to well deserving charities but there is money to be made in this.

Thanks for such a good lens, so many people don't know how harmful and toxic old electrical goods are and how many people die each year as a result of wars over minerals used in cell phones & other electrical goods (Gold, platinum, copper)

I recycle, but mobiles are different story. I stick to my second one, so the first one is still in the drawer... We have couple of stores with second handed mobiles and we can throw old mobiles in special containers but there is no other option. Don't think anybody would pay for so old model. Maybe after a decade or two when it becomes museum piece;)

I work with a lot of not-for-profit groups that are always looking for ways to raise money. This is such a great idea, because it accomplishes two things- financial- it raises money; and enviornmental-- holding a drive to collect old cell phone will keep them from poisoning the landfills. Great lens! Thanks!

What if you are wanting to turn in large amounts of cell phones for profit? Will these companies take large amounts at a time? Also will they still pay for shipping?
  • agalova Dec 10, 2010 @ 9:01 pm | delete
If you are in the military or a dependent than you can recycle cell phones, ipods, computers, etc. thru the exchange mall too. Nice lens, Thank you.

Fantastic Idea for disposing of the old mobile phones - more effective than stuffing them in a draw!
  • Mkcoy Mar 11, 2010 @ 9:54 am | delete
Well this is a good lens. Helping people to find out how to recycle old mobiles. Good for people in the short term and good for the environment in the long run also.

Excellent recycling lens. The info is very useful and will hopefully encourage more recycling of mobile phones.

Great lens here lots of useful and well researched info on Mobile Phone Recycling. You can see reviews, comparisons and guides for lots of mobile phone recycling sites at Sell Your Mobile.

    Some really interesting info!

I think if you put your mobile on ebay perhaps you could receive more money that what is paid by most of the recyclers - but for convenience the phone companies win.

http://www.recycleoldmobiles.co.uk/ - is a UK site that shows you which phone company will pay the highest amount for your old mobile.
