Great read thanks a lot. One question though- where can I access Motorola's study. I believe there may be some great insight there for my University essay. Many thanks. Lottie

Returning with angel dust for the cell phones that are changing out lives. Since I was here before, one of the selling points on cell phones and particularly the iPhone is its great camera feature with such good photo quality.

I love returning and read this lens. Cellphones are necessities esp. if you are in the developed countries. But we should not ignore what tips and warnings are written here. Nice lens! :)

Wonderful lens and lots of good information and well researched. In Australia as well as a fine you lose points off your license and after 5 points loss you won't have it anymore. Blessed and featured on Blessed by Skiesgreen 2012, HUgs

We should not take cell phones for granted. Every plus they add to our lives has its minus. Humankind made many astonishing thing without cell phones and I think with them we are loosing part of humanity. Personal touch is still personal touch

The mobile phone has changed the way we communicate and interact with each other. It’s amazing that we have gotten to a point that no matter how poor you are you can still afford a mobile phone. That says a lot about the technology of the world we are living in.
Mobile phones are definitely a step up in our evolution. Just because some people abuse it and this causes trouble doesn’t mean cell phones are bad. Just like eating too much food can kill you, yet we can not say food is “bad”.

This is an amazing lens! I think more information like this should be brought to the attention of high school students, because they make up the majority of users, who don't have the information.

Great lens! Full of good information that was useful. Well at least for this young squid.

One big thumbs up vote left for ya!

Very interesting lens. I helped design some of the silicon chips used in cells phones over the last 18 years or so, starting with some of the earliest small digital phones. It is interesting to see the huge increase in functionality with each generation, but also how they have become indispensable and a fashion item, rather than just a useful gadget.

great topic. i find cell phones to be truly annoying and helpful at the same time. it's great that anyone can reach me in an emergency, and that's about all it's used for.

naah, cellphones indeed are beneficial but come to think of it, there are also hundreds of drawbacks associate with these. i just read about how it affects the wild life in central africa are being affected because of the mining of coltan - semiconductor found in cellphones. too bad for that.

I've seen many a teenager ruin their reputations and parental pocketbooks with cell phone texting - or sexting as you call it.
  • manlalakbay Jun 22, 2011 @ 3:19 pm | delete
I learned a lot from this lens and I love it. This topic will be a hit because almost everyone has cellphone. Thanks and more power! :)

I don't have one and haven't for a few years and sure did miss it for a while. We get very dependent on them very quickly. Oh, to not have to be so "connected"!
  • ElizabethJeanAllen Apr 1, 2011 @ 5:29 pm | delete
Cell phones have changed our lives. Some for the better but sometimes I think being so connected is not a good thing. Many of my students can't make a decision without asking opinions of at least twenty friends. What ever happened to independent thinking?

Cell Phones are responsible for a huge dramatic change in our lifestyle.A cell phone allows us to break the communication gap between us.In spite of distance, boundaries etc. we are able to bridge the gap amongst our near and dear ones.World cell phone have contributed to a great deal of advancement in human's life.

Days that I forget my cell phone it feels like I'm on a deserted island. As sad as that is.
  • Sylvestermouse Jan 8, 2011 @ 10:19 am | delete
It is true, cell phones have become very important in our daily lives. I found the information on teenagers quite interesting. I have seen how fast they can text each other with their thumbs and been somewhat intrigued by that. I still "poke" out my messages. LOL

Great lens on cells phones. I only use mine when necessary. Too many people are addicted to them.

Excellent lens with very useful information. I have lensrolled this to my International Calling Card lens.
  • scar4 Nov 26, 2010 @ 12:44 am | delete
I think cell phones have already taken control of our lives, for they're convinient, swift and cheap than traditional contact methods. But, since each coin has two sides, they're not exceptional.
  • LadyelenaUK May 15, 2010 @ 2:27 am | delete
Important Lens. Cell phones have come along away and I'm sure technology will make them even more advance however, I think it is exposing us too much to radiation. We shouldn't stay on them for long times.
  • Ramkitten Aug 21, 2009 @ 9:20 pm | delete
I resisted getting a cell phone for years. I only did so when I started taking care of my mom (but not living with her), and she needed to be able to get a hold of me. Now, I use my cell phone as my only phone, and need it for Search & Rescue calls. But I try not to use it while I'm driving, don't do texting at all, and really try to be aware of using it in a public place so as not to annoy people. I see way too many people crossing streets while yacking, not paying attention. Yacking in restaurants, the library. It's almost a bit out of control in my opinion.

Anyhow, well done, interesting lens. Nice job!

I really enjoyed reading your article. Maybe one I'll get a cell phone one one day. I'm lensrolling to my http://www.squidoo.com/i_dont_have_a_cellphone

I enjoyed this lens very much! Great information. Well written. I learned a great deal. FIVE BIG STARS! And a vote on the Squid Squad. Well done. A great topic. I'm an OLD lady and I broke down last December and purchased my first cell - a Jitterbut - that's an old lady phone. I don't use it much about 1 hour a month.

I'm way behind the times. I still don't have a cell phone. My husband lives on his cell phone. I do wish he wouldn't use it while he's driving though.
