Created almost by accident, Cellex-C in the invention of Lorraine Meisner;  an eminent cell biologist at UW-Madison.  Dr. Meisner has devoted much of her career to unlocking the genetic mystery of breast cancer and malignant melanoma.  Created in the kitchen of her small home, Dr. Meisner's invention is now one of the most important, if not famous skin care products in the world.

So good is the product that Dermatologists and plastic surgeons are selling it to their clients because it cuts healing time in half after laser and chemical face peels.  Elle magazine called Cellex-C "the underground favorite of socialites and celebrities."

Being the first to use Vitamin C in skin care, one of the problems Dr. Meiner faced was the instability of the vitamin itself.  Her trick was to produce Vitamin C in a for  that would allow the skin to make use of it before it passed throught the body.  Vitamin C is not like vitamins A or E, because they are fat soluble, which stay in the body.  Vitamin C has to be replenished frequently.

Using mixtures of ascorbic acid, which is a pure from of Vitamin C, and the mineral zinc and the amino acid tyrosine, which Dr. Meisner says must be used all at the same time for best results, the first incarnation of Cellex-C was born.

Today, Cellex-C is the highest selling skin care product in Australia, where sun damage is prevelent, and is recommended by Dermatologists and Plastic Surgeons the world over for healing properties.

However, today Cellex-C is one of the most expensive skin care products on the market.  Dr. Meisner has said that she's not in control of the product pricing, and is not happy about the cost.
