The Members of Celtic Thunder
Damien McGinty from Derry, Northern Ireland is the youngest member of Celtic Thunder, having joined at age 14. He came to the attention of Browne and Coulter through a CD he'd made for charity. They asked him to audition and chose him. He's gone from soprano to baritone and also growing taller. Even at 14 he was no stranger to performing, having won his first music competition at age six.Keith Harkin is also from County Derry in Northern Ireland, joining the group at age 20. He's been performing since he was four years old. He also plays guitar and is an accomplished songwriter. He found out about auditions for Celtic Thunder in 2005 and was able to get in just before they finished.
Ryan Kelly comes from County Tyrone in Northern Ireland. He's been singing since he was seven, although instead of going right into entertainment, he got his degree in accounting. But he's always been more passionate about music and theater, which helped him land a spot in Celtic Thunder where he often plays the "bad guy" role and puts his dancing talents to use.
Paul Byrom from Dublin is often hailed as ireland's premier young tenor. He began vocal training at age seven and was recording professionally by his early teens. His second album, Velvet reached #2 on the Irish charts in 2005. He was asked to audition for Celtic Thunder in 2007. At the end of the 2010 tour, Paul left the group to pursue his solo career.
George Donaldson is the lone Scotsmanand the elder in Celtic Thunder. In addition to his work with the group, he's also well established in the folk scene in Glasgow, having performed at Glasgow's Celtic Connections festival and at folk clubs in the west of Scotland. In addition to touring North America and Europe with Celtic Thunder, he has also toured those continents as a solo act.
Neil Byrne got involved with Celtic Thunder through an earlier association with composer Phil Coulter. He began as a backup musician and vocalist and this developed into playing lead guitar for the show.
Emmett Cahill from County Westmeath in Ireland. He began playing piano at age five and later began vocal training. He has continued his music studies and has won a number of competitions. Singing is his first love and in 2010 he was picked to succeed Paul Byrom in Celtic Thunder.
