Molly's Revenge is a West Coast band known for putting on very lively stage performances. They've taken the tried and true combination of bagpipes, whistle, fiddle, and song and added guitar, bouzouki, and mandola to the mix. They mix traditional tunes with new material in a combination that sets feet tapping and throats cheering.

While the bulk of Molly's Revenge performances are on the West Coast of the United States, they occasionally venture farther afield. In 2005 they appeared at the Shanghai International Music Festival in China, and in 2009 they appeared at Celtic Connections, an annual festival in Glasgow, Scotland.

Molly's Revenge is...

Pete Howarth: Bouzouki and vocals — Originally from Lancashire in England, Howarth moved to California in 1982 and connected with local folk music people. It was through the Celtic Society of the Monterey Bay that he met the people who would eventually form Molly's Revenge. In addition to performing, Howarth also manages the business side of the band.

David Brewer: Highland bagpipes, whistles and bohdran — One of the most accomplished pipers on the West Coast as well as one of the liveliest anywhere, Brewer has composed over 200 piping tunes.

John Weed: Fiddle — Classically trained as a violinist, Weed discovered Irish style fiddling in the late 1990s. He has both learned and taught the style in its native land and makes an annual trip to hone his skills at the Frankie Kennedy Winter School (named for the late founder of Altan) in County Donegal.

Stuart Mason: Guitar and mandola — Mason has been performing traditional music for over 30 years in many styles including Celtic and bluegrass. He has contributed his own compositions to the tradition and teaches at music camps and festivals.

Moira Smiley: Vocals and accordion — Smiley is an extremely accomplished vocalist with her own group moira smiley & VOCO (her own name isn't capitalized). Busy with many varieties of vocal work, she performs at selected venues with Molly's Revenge, including their trip in January 2009 to Celtic Connections in Glasgow.
