Eileen Ivers - Irish/American Champion Fiddle Player

Eileen Ivers, whose parents were Irish immigrants, was born and raised in the Bronx borough of New York City, but spent her summers in Ireland. She started playing fiddle at age nine. She was soon winning fiddle competitions in Ireland and has been recognized as one of the best Irish fiddle players on either side of the Atlantic.

Riverdance was Eileen Ivers' Big Break

Eileen Ivers first toured with Mick Moloney's band The Greenfields of America. Later she was founding member of the all-women group Cherish the Ladies and toured with them for several years.

In 1995 she replaced the original fiddler in Bill Whelan's hit stage show Riverdance and was featured with solos on her signature blue electric fiddle, "Old Bluey."

Ivers has branched out from strictly Irish music to incorporate African and Latin sounds featured on Eileen Ivers and Immigrant Soul. She has also recorded with the Afro Celt Sound System, The Chieftains, Paul Winter and Micheál Ó Súilleabháin. She is also in demand as a guest artist with symphony orchestras.
