Celtic Music That I Love

I Love Celtic Music
When I first heard Celtic music, I reveled in its melodies and lyrics. "This is the way music is supposed to sound" was the thought going through my head. I was in college then, and growing up on a farm in Kansas in the 1950s gave me little exposure to music. Since I discovered Irish and Scottish music, it has held my interest ever since those early days of the Irish Rovers and the Kingston Trio.
Perhaps I was tuning into some ancestral memories. After all, my family background included McGhees and Kennedys.

Irish Set Dancing
You can take lessons for Irish set dancing. I took my lessons in Baltimore, Maryland. There were regular Friday night dances at the Gandy Dancer and several ceilis during the month.
At first glance, Irish set dancing reminds people of square dancing. Many of the dances start with a square of four couples (like The Kerry Set). With Irish set dancing, there is no caller, so the dancers need to memorize the patterns for the dances. Besides the pattern of the dance, there's a special step that you learn.

- I fell in love with Celtic music after listening to the Corrs. And looking for good lenses for my quest I stumbled upon this. Seems I have a lot more to know. BTW why do have different genres for Irish and Celtic music at Squidoo. Are they very different?
