ZIP Code + Census Data = ZIP Code Demographics
In 1943, the United States Postal Service created a system of postal codes to identify large cities in the U.S. The postal code was later given the name "ZIP Code" (acronym for Zone Improvement Plan) and expanded to include all postal delivery areas in the country. By combining ZIP codes with statistical data from the U.S. Census Bureau, one can get a picture of the types of people living in a neighborhood. ZIP Code Demographics Lookup
