Central Park in New York City

This is one place that I loved in New York City. The last time I was in Manhattan was at least three years ago but I always keep fond memories of Central Park. The park is nestled inside the concrete jungle of the city.

What is there to do in Central Park?

Central Park Events and Happenings

Central Park is the perfect venue for many events and happenings including weddings, marathons, concerts, the Central Park Zoo, ice skating in the winter-time, carousel riding, and much more! To get a full list of public events in the park, visit the Central Park Events page.

Aside from the public events held, many people also use the park for a quick jog, a mid-day stroll, and even a quick snow-ball fight in the winter months. I think there was one thing that caught my eye about the park. Besides being engulfed in the city, the park park was the getaway for many every-day workers to keep active and stay healthy.

Keeping Central Park Clean

Maintaining the Park

Central Park was the first landscaped park open to the public in the United States. The park opened up to the public in the winter of 1859 and by 1895, Central Park received over seven million visitors a year.

Central Park and the Central Park Conservancy are working with the public to preserve the 843 acre park. The goal is to keep the park maintained for future generations to enjoy what the place has to offer. At this day in age with our society going towards a "green" environment, it is as important as ever that the Central Park Conservancy sets the standard for maintenance and caring for our environment.

The Conservancy has worked to provide almost 85% of the $27 million operating revenue for the park. Not only that, but the Central Park Conservancy also took upon its shoulders the responsibility to maintain basic care of the park. The group works hard to upkeep the most visited urban park in the nation so that everyone can find the park an enjoyable and clean place to come to day-in and day-out for many years to come.
