How The Cessna Aircraft Company Started

The Cessna Aircraft company was formed by Clyde Cessna in Wichita Kansas during 1927. He produced the first cantilever wing design, a monoplane called the Phantom.

This Cessna aircraft became a commercial success and sold up until the Great Depression.

Cessna went on to produce a whole range of successful commercial light aircraft.

Up until the mid 1960s Cessna produced mostly small two-four seater aircaft before branching out to become one of the leading business jet manufacturers

Fly in the Luxury of a Cessna Citation X

The Cessna Citation X is a medium size business jet capable of carrying up to 12 passengers and 2 pilots in it's spacious cabin.

It's the first Cessna aircraft to be powered by 2 Rolls Royce engines and can fly at a speed of 600mph and reach a distance of 3,300 nautical miles.

The Cessna Citation X is so fast that it can take an hour off transcontinental flights compared to other mid sized corporate models.

It can get you from New York to Los Angeles in just over four hours. This may not be so easy to achieve in a commercial aircraft.

This business jet can cruise at an altitude of 37,000ft which Cessna claims reduces the amount of fuel consumption.

The interior of the Cessna Citation X is equally praiseworthy. There is plenty of head and shoulder room, and the enough floor space to allow for walking up and down the aisle to pace whenever travelers have to move to think.

But with the plush seats and quiet cabin, they'll probably spend more time relaxing than worrying

Fly High in a New Free Spirited Cessna Mustang

The Cessna Mustang is a new breed of VLJ (very light jets). It's priced at around just over $2.6 million and is a four seater jet.

It can cruise at an altitude of 41,000ft and can reach speeds of 400mph. Just like the Citation jet the Cessna Mustang is powered by a pair of Pratt & Whitney PW615F engines.

Takeoff distance is also greater at 3,120 feet (951m) compared to the Eclipse's just over 2,000 feet (622 m). But Cessna isn't being wasteful. That difference is visible in the styling and comfort built around the passengers and crew.

It has a wide passenger door and large eye level windows in the cabin to allow plenty of natural light to flood in and also allow passengers a better view.

Along with the Mustang, Cessna has introduced recently several other business jets, such as the slightly larger CJ2 and CJ3. Heavier, but powered by FJ44-3 Williams engines, the latter models will fly faster and further than the Mustang or the Eclipse, thanks to the 12% greater thrust of the Williams engines.

Already FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) certified, with orders pouring in for the Cessna Mustang. It currently has 250 orders to take them well into 2009.
