CFLs (compact fluorescent lamps) are more efficient as compared to regular incandescent bulbs. By using 66% to 80% less energy, CFLs let you save at least 7% off your monthly energy bills!

CFLs have longer life span

as compared to ordinary light bulbs.

How long do CFLs last?

CFLs last anywhere between 8 to 15 times longer than regular incandescent light bulbs. Some CFLs have a titanium dioxide coating.

Titanium what?

A titanium coated light bulb breaks down offensive odors caused by microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses and molds, and is ideal for use in damp or musty areas to help neutralize odor. As such, these bulbs are perfect for areas with persistent odors including health care facilities, gyms and locker rooms, veterinary offices and homes with pets, restrooms, closets, trash areas, and basements.

The O-ZONELite CF Air purification 5500k bulb is an energy saving, full spectrum CFL that uses 75% less energy as compared to a regular incandescent light bulb and lasts up to 6,000 hours (about 8 times longer than the ordinary incandescent bulb). It also serves as an air purifier by emitting Ozone free negative ions that eliminate germs, smoke, odors, dust, pet dander, and other potentially harmful particles floating in the air.

Some CFLs have luminous coating.

How do you benefit from CFL luminosity?

Have you ever noticed that some CFLs still emit some luminiscence even after they are turned off? Well, some manufacturers do this so there will be some light left in case of power failure.

CFLs do not emit as much heat as incandescent light bulbs.

Less heat = ?

CFLs contain a certain type of gas within its cleverly-folded glass tubes, and are coated on the inside with a layer of phosphor. Now, when you switch the light on, electricity passes through the gas causing it to emit ultraviolet rays and the phosphor coating to glow. This is more energy efficient because most of the energy is turned into light instead of wasteful heat. The end result - your air conditioning unit won't have to work as much in cooling the room and you save energy and dollars!

Yes, absolutely!

GetSillyProductions says:

All our bulbs are CFL

catluvrcook says:

Of course! we have them in our house and they are exactly the same, you can't even notice the difference once they're in their cases. I would feel just awful about myself if i didn't use them, knowing i was responsible for at least 100 death a year! I just couldn't do it (exaggeration applied.)

RitaK says:

I do use CFLs...they are way cool!

No way.

glockr says:

I think they're a scam. In my experience they don't last any longer than incandescent bulbs, they cost a lot more, my electricity bill hasn't changed since switching to CFLs, and they contain mercury.

DogToys says:

They look bad.

Nibbled says:

I just don't like the glow they produce.
