Chainsaws
Chainsaws are a type of mechanical saw than run by a motor and are used mostly in logging or arboriculture (management of trees). Chainsaws are used in felling trees and their parts (especially branches and leaves) for routine management of tree growing and also by professional arborists for suppressing wild land fires. Chainsaws have also been used in chainsaw art since the 1950s. Recently, popular culture presentations like horror movies and musical recordings have made chainsaw a symbol of thrill and terror.

Chainsaw Safety
With all of the advances in the designing of chainsaws for safety, working with one is not free of the risk of injury. Kickback is the most common and most serious cause of injuries, even of death, for people using chainsaws. In this case, the movement of the chain stops suddenly due to the failed course of a chain tooth in cutting through wood, thus causing the bar to move upward, in an arc-like path, toward the operator.
Another dangerous possibility is of the operator being caught or crushed under a felling load (a tree for example) due to the load's collapse before the saw's blade is completely out of it. To avoid these and other accidents, it is important for the user to get complete information on chainsaw safety before using one for logging or arboriculture.
Echo Chainsaws
All Echo chainsaws are built for balance and for an easy to handle design. There are Echo power tools that can be handled while the user is climbing. You can find saws that are suitable for the ground and for climbing use. Low vibration technology makes the chainsaw easy to love. The low vibration technology makes the small chainsaw easy to handle and the machine is not too loud. The controls are all grouped together so that you can find the right control switch when you need it.
Homelite Chainsaws
Homelite is a reliable company with a strong history that began in 1921 when Charles H. Ferguson founded the Home Electric Lighting Company in Port Chester, New York. It was later renamed Homelite and made its first electric chainsaw in 1946.
In 1949, they manufactured a one-man chainsaw and from then on, this company proved itself as a leader in the power equipment industry. But they never stopped improving their line. In 1963, they introduced a lightweight chainsaw that weighed only twelve pounds. Homelite understood the need for a product line that would be easy to use and efficient. Their compact models offer today's homeowners power for their backyard projects at a price they can afford. Buying a Homelite chainsaw is a solid investment backed by this company's reputation and skill in manufacturing a line of tried and true products.
Husqvarna Chainsaws
When looking to buy a particular model of the Husqvarna chainsaw, consider the purpose of the saw's use. It is typically advisable to choose a lightweight saw that can be handled with ease but one that is still powerful enough to serve the purpose. A saw with a very small engine power is good for little beyond cutting and/or trimming thin wood and so it is useful for small domestic repairs only.
Safety features are very important to consider when buying a particular design. The best kind of safety feature on all Husqvarna chainsaws is that against 'kickback'. However, the customer should go for a model that does not carry an over protection against kickback since it breaks the chain and takes a lot of time and energy, as well as some extra cost, to replace it. It is important to remember that Husqvarna chainsaws are usually the most costly in the market but they are worth paying for as they last the longest and do a great job.
Poulan Chainsaws
Poulan chainsaws are especially popular with homeowners. This is because they are not usually as big and cumbersome as some of the other brands. The lighter weight and smaller size provides an ease of use that someone who does not have extensive experience with chainsaws can appreciate. Another attractive feature that these chainsaws offer is the fact that they are more affordable than many other saws on the market. Someone who uses their chainsaw a couple of times a year should not be expected to spend several hundred dollars or more for a reliable saw. This makes Poulan chainsaws perfect for those who need one for occasional use around the house. These chainsaws give you the power and reliability to handle light to medium jobs for a reasonable price that is usually between $100-$200.
Stihl Chainsaws
Stihl has been around for over 80 years in the chainsaw market. Stihl chainsaw as a brand is widely known to both loggers and arborists as a product of the highest quality. With over 30 models of chainsaws and as many special features, Stihl chainsaw is a hot favorite among professional arborists and it is increasingly becoming popular for home garden management.
Electric Chainsaw
Electric chainsaws are a great option to the gas powered model. They are lighter, quieter, safer, and ideal for the light to medium use of the typical homeowner.
Chainsaw Maintenance

The chainsaw engine is lubricated by its own oil that makes up part of its fuel. However, it cannot be used to lubricate the chain and blade of the saw because of its highly inflammable nature. Lubrication of the chain and blade is done by a separate reservoir of oil, which needs to be kept topped up with an oil of adequate viscosity. Failing to do this can cause damage to both the saw's blade and chain.
Another thing to consider while working with a chainsaw is cleaning the sawdust off the filter taking in air during the saw's operation. Ignoring it for a long time may leave the filter clogged. The fine dust accumulated inside is usually blown off by means of compressed air. The filter mesh can be washed with soapy water and later dried to prevent clogging. Also important for proper functioning of the saw is maintaining the sharpness of the blades, for which purpose owners normally use a round file or a jig.
