The Chalice Well-Glastonbury, England
I just learned about the Chalice Well, this past week. I had received a magazine that had a ring in it of the Chalice Well. The interest peaked me to no end to find out more about this magical, enchanting place.

Cover of the Chalice Well:
Archaeological evidence suggests that the well has been in almost constant use for at least two thousand years. Water issues from the spring at a rate of 25,000 gallons per day and has never failed, even during drought. Iron oxide deposits give water a reddish hue, as dissolved ferrous oxide becomes oxidized at the surface and is precipitated. Like the hot springs in nearby Bath, the water is believed to possess healing qualities.
In addition to the legends associated with Glastonbury, the Well is often portrayed as a symbol of the female aspect of deity, with the male symbolised by Glastonbury Tor. As such, it is a popular destination for pilgrims in search of the divine feminine, including modern Pagans. The Well is however popular with all faiths and in 2001 became a World Peace Garden.
When I did more research on the Well, I found that in 1919 the cover of the well was donated by: Frederick Bligh Bond. It features a wrought iron Vesica Piscis with a lance passing through it.
Vesica Piscis pronouced: [vuh-sahy-kuh, -see-, ves-i-kuh] is an ancient symbol of two interlocking circles. Its geometry symbolises a union of Heaven & Earth or Spirit and Matter
Please give a shout out to my friend Rosie for sharing this picture of the Chalice Well. She took this photo during one of her visits. She told me that she tries to visit there at least every other year. Thank you LOTS Rosie!!

Rosie describes The Chalice Well....
The Chalice well is in the peace garden in Wells Somerset, the second favourite place in the whole world for me, the first being the Tor. I visit every other year and try to fit it in twice each visit. I always fill up an empty bottle from the well as it has healing properties, it's a place for all faiths, Hindu, pagan, quiet and revered by all that visit. I did have a wonderful experience there; we were sitting near the well in a circle amongst other pagans and a gentleman was playing a Celtic flute, it just lifted me so high I was at complete peace more so than in any other place. It was on of those ethereal moments when time just stands still, everything was gone except the sound of his flute. After I felt like I was elevated , walking abve the ground. The Well has two major pools, but the rivulet runs through the whole garden and it truly is this wonderful color. This is another one of Rosies Pictures

A little more information about the Chalice Well
The Chalice Well is one of Britain's most ancient wells. It is nestled in the Vale of Avalon between the famous Glastonbury Tor and Chalice Hill. For over two thousand years, people have gathered to this area to drink the healing waters, find solace, peace and inspiration.
The Chalice Well is known for its healing powers. Its spring also symbolizes the continuous flow of life; flowing at a rate of 25,000 gallons a day even during times of drought.
Some legends speak of Joseph of Arimathea throwing the Holy Chalice in the Chalice Well. The Holy Chalice is the same one that Jesus drank from during the last supper and it is also the same chalice that held the blood that dripped from Jesus' crucifixion.
Legend also has it that the color and taste of the Well symbolizes the blood and iron nails that were used for the crucifixion. Interestingly enough, the water that flows from this well has a reddish tint and actually tastes like iron.
There are also stories that speak of the Chalice Well as being a gateway to the Spirit World where connections with between human existence and spirit could flourish.

More History on Glastonbury
Rosie passed this link to me and as I was reading through some of the pages, I thought this would be a great addition to this lens. So once again Rosie, thank you for passing this to me!!What I did was cut and paste the beginning section and added the link for you to finish reading it.
THERE is no religious foundation in England whose history carries us so far back as that of Glastonbury. Its origins really are lost in the mists of antiquity. True, in later times people became very precise about them, but when we come to test their assertions these melt away under the touch. It is impossible here to write down all the mythical history that gathered about the place. I will try to set down what is not seriously disputed, and then notice some of the more famous of the legends. Continue reading here: History-James
It is at Glastonbury that legend takes upon itself to go up not only to the beginnings of British Christianity, but also to the beginnings of Christianity itself. The legends of the spot go back to the days of the Apostles. The place is indeed unique, for from the very beginnings of Christianity it was hallowed ground. A legend even tells us that Christ himself as a boy walked upon the hills of Somerset. Such legends are not related to historical facts, but "the very existence of those legends is a very great fact". The immense number of fascinating stories which cling to the place could not have grown up had there not been some substratum of truth behind them. There is, in any case, more than enough of proved history to shew that Glastonbury was for centuries the most ancient and famous centre of Christianity in the land. Best known and most interesting of the reputed sites of Camelot. A hill-fort beside South Cadbury, down a small road which leaves the A303 at Chapel Cross, 1½ miles east of Sparkford. The road passes through South Cadbury village and, a short distance beyond the church, comes to the foot of the only path up the hill. This is marked by a notice-board. There is a small parking space, and a much larger one farther on. The path climbs gently to a gate in a wall, and then more steeply through woods, till it emerges in she enclosure on top. After rain it is apt to be muddy and slippery. Continue reading here: History-Cadbury

- my favourite garden...I go about 4 times a year, through the wheel and the seasons...it's where the dragonflies gather. Different parts of the garden have different energies, but all over-arched by one amazing energy/vibe/sensation...If you become a member, there is a lodge that you can stay in inside the grounds.
