Do you feel as if you're stuck in a rut waiting for your real life to begin? Do you feel as if you're thirsting for new experiences and ways of living? If so, you've come to the right place.

There is no secret to changing your life. You just need to know what you want to achieve, keep motivated and follow through. That's all there is to it! The basics are outlined below with handy links accompanying each section if you wish to explore any of the ideas further. I hope that all your dreams come true!

1) Set Your Goals 

You need to have a destination in mind if you're going to make a successful journey. In the same way, you need to be specific about how you would like your life to change. Where do you want to be? What would you like to be doing? Be honest with yourself. Here are some questions to ask yourself:

1)If you had unlimited money, how would you live your life?
2)If you had no fears, what would you like to do most?
3)If you were given 12 months to live what would you most regret not doing?

If we take away the anxieties and mundanity of modern life, a new picture can often emerge. Brainstorm these questions and see which ideas crop up most frequently. Then write them down in a journal. Leave them for a week and go back to them. You might be surprised by what you find!

2) Achieve a positive mindset 

Before you start to tackle your goals, it's a good idea to engender an open and positive state of mind. The more stamina and enthusiasm you start with, the longer your resolve will last. It is also vital to build your self-esteem and confidence in this early stage so that you have the drive to move forwards without excessive fear.

There are several ways which you can improve your sense of well-being, both mentally and physically:

PHYSICAL
1) Improve your diet
2) Do more exercise
3) Get proper sleep
4) Cut back on commitments
5) Avoid negative influences

MENTAL
1) Write a list of your achievements and congratulate yourself for things you have done well
2) Look forwards, not backwards
3) Do not criticise yourself for a week. If you make a mistake put it down to life experience and move on
4) Enjoy every small moment for a whole day. Appreciate every single sensory experience
5) Explore NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) techniques.

There are a huge range of books and CDs which specialize in improving self-belief and aiding positive change. These usually combine mild hypnosis with NLP techniques. These can be effective, but work best when the techniques are repeated over time.

3) Achieving Your Goals 

The best way to accomplish your goals is to give them a definite shape. Break the path to your destination into smaller journeys. Research what you will need to do at each stage of the way.

It's vital that each section of the goal is realistic. If you want to lose weight then don't set yourself impossible tasks like eating healthily every day. Instead start off by replacing one meal a week, then two and so on. The same goes for exercise. Start with a 5 minute walk and work up. If you keep this tiny momentum, your goals will become routines rather than chores.

Motivation is also key at this stage. A good way to stay focused is to have a visual prompt on hand. This could be a progress chart that you can update , a screensaver of a dream destination or a scrapbook dedicated to a new career. Anything that encourages your mind to re-focus and review the goal every day.

Employing a life coach also works for some people. However, do choose with care. Make sure that you talk to several coaches before deciding and cross-reference their qualifications and check whether they have relevant experience.
