Your Money or Your Time?

Do you think it is more important to volunteer your time and/or talents to charitable causes or is it better to make a cash contribution? Do you think one is more valuable than the other? Do you prefer one to the other? Why?

Is it better to volunteer your time or donate some cash?

Time

WhiteSockGirl says:

Even though I am donating 100% of the earnings of all my lenses, I am of the opinion that individuals should donate time instead of money. I would always suggest that individuals should thoroughly investigate a charity themselves, regardless of the reputation, before donating money. Make sure that you feel comfortable with the organization's spending habits before you part with your cash.
Even churches, that are receiving international donor funding for social development causes, are making the headlines for mismanaging funds in my country.
The bulk of donor funding is simply not reaching the beneficiaries.

OhMe says:

Both are equally important. Not everyone can volunteer their time and not everyone can donate so both are greatly appreciated by my favorite charity, Friends of the Park.

Our Friends of the Park organization, a Squidoo supported charity, has certainly enjoyed and benefited from Squidoo. To date over $3,000 has been donated by generous lensmasters to help our cause, Veterans Park in Pendleton SC. Our Squidoo report is part of our monthly meetings and our membership and community appreciates Squidoo very much.
