Ask a Charity Mentor
Ranked #2,743 in Squidoo Community, #211,807 overall
Are you part of a non-profit?
Is your non-profit one of the groups in partnership with Squidoo? I hope so, it's a great opportunity to use the internet as a poweful tool for a charitable organisation.
If your savvy non-profit has just taken the first step in seizing the advantages of Squidoo, then you'll soon be hearing from a mentor.
Citizen Squids work as mentors in specific areas to provide solutions and help lensmasters, Charity Mentors help you along the way by working with you on your first step - your 'About Me' lens.
There are two Charity Mentors, I'm Susanna and I'm one of them. If you've joined us I'm happy to assist with your charity partnership needs. Welcome!

At this time, for tax and legal reasons, Squidoo can only accept US-based organizations that specifically have a 501(c)(3) and can only accept applications from a charity official, not a volunteer wishing to collect on their behalf.
Why should my Non Profit join up?
Three compelling reasons to sign up as a Charity
Once you're signed up as a Squidoo Nonprofit partner, you have a global network at your fingertips.
1. You will make yourself known to people around the world who would not otherwise have heard about you.
Make a difference in the world! Tell everyone what you do, spread the word! The internet has made our world smaller and there are plenty of people who would love to hear about what your organisation does. For example I'm in Australia but, through Squidoo, I learned about a Charity in USA. Let me tell you why I donate to Big Cat Rescue.
2. You will have a system in which anyone, anywhere, can easily donate to your cause
Once you're signed up, any Squidoo lensmaster can swiftly add your 'Donation Module' to their lenses. With one click, anyone can donate. Any lensmaster may also choose to donate their royalties to you.
3. Your existing supporters can contribute in a new and exciting way
Here's where your existing supporters can broaden their support, raise money and and have fun at the same time. They do this by making their own lenses on any topic of their choosing, book reviews, recipes, celebrity gossip, parenting tips, gardening advice, travel journals - any subject which appeals. Your supporters can donate their royalties to you.
Squidoo sends you all the donations via PayPal each month. Yes, it's all free.

First Step- Create a lens about your Organisation
The first step
Making your lens
The highlights of your organisation
You need to show people why they should donate to you. So first make an interesting and useful lens, explain who you are and what you do. Why do you do it? How do you do it? Show us some photos of your organisation and photos of what you do.
My Co-Mentor, j_barnhart4, describes this as the "the soul of the charity".
Here's the top advice from Kimberly, the Community & Charity Organizer on Squidoo : Go ahead and build a lens. About your organization, the work you do, your mission, your goals, your donors, your favorite success stories, the 5 things people should know about your cause, about your best volunteers.

What I do as a Charity Mentor
We go through it together
First of all, you sign up to be approved as a Non-Profit and commence to create your first lens. This is where I come in.
I'm here to help you get through that lens, to explain the modules you can use, the different ways you encourage interaction from visitors and, overall, to produce a sparkling lens which clearly explains just what your organisation is, and what it does. I give you personal one-on-one explanations, advice, coaching and whole hearted support. No matter the time, I'm just an email away. I also use web conferencing to show you anything of which you're not sure.
You'll quickly discover how simple it is to Squidoo!
