Raise Money Online for Your Charity

Many nonprofit organizations, clubs and teams would like to raise money online.

Online Charity Malls offer a way do this year-round and require very little effort once they are set up. You may not be familiar with this type of shopping fundraiser, however, some online charity malls are well established and have been around for many years.

What is an Online Charity Mall? 

Basically, these shopping websites are portals that represent many online retailers. The retailers that are represented by the charity malls are the major online retailers such as Gap, Nordstrom, Target, and even the Home Shopping Network. One of the original charity malls is iGive.com which features 680 stores to shop from.

Shop for a Cause 

The idea behind the charity mall is that people are going to make purchases online anyway. Your school can sign up with one of these online malls, and when your supporters take the extra step of shopping and designating your cause, organization gets the benefit of a sales commission.

It doesn't cost anymore to shop through a charity mall and sometimes it can actually cost less. Many times these malls have exclusive coupon deals from the retailers.

Nonprofit Organizations, Schools, Clubs and Teams Can Sign Up for Free 

When you sign your school or nonprofit up to participate in these charity malls there is no fee but many do require that your organization provide proof of your nonprofit status.

After you are approved your organization will be listed on the shopping site so that shoppers can designate you to receive the donation of the sales commission. The benefit of shoppers being able to pick the cause is that you may receive donations from shoppers world-wide who find that your cause is worthy.

How Much Can Your Nonprofit Organization Earn? 

It is not uncommon for groups such as schools to earn hundreds of dollars a month through charity malls.

The more people you send to the shopping website the more money you can earn. You may want to choose a main charity mall that you feel comfortable promoting to your organization's members and supporters.

You can then feature a link to your charity mall on your website and printed materials. However, there is no reason not to sign up for as many of these charity shopping portals as you can find online. You will also be gaining more exposure for your organization when you participate in more than one of these programs.
