About the Author
What was meant to be a fun lens is now shrouded in sadness. Charla Krupp died of breast cancer on January 23, 2012. In magazines, on television, and with two best-selling books, Charla Krupp sought to help women to feel better about their looks. During her career, she appeared in more than 100 style segments on the Today show, and on dozens of national television shows including The Oprah Winfrey Show, The View, Dateline NBC, and Good Morning America. She also made regular appearances on the E! Channel and the Home Shopping Network. Earlier in her journalism career Charla Krupp worked as an editor at Glamour and In Style, establishing herself as an expert in beauty and style. Charla loved beauty, but was down-to-earth and unpretentious. She was intensely private about her illness, and many were shocked to hear of her untimely passing. Charla Krupp will be missed. I love Charla's book, but also have fun breaking the rules. I still get carded when I wear my hair in an updo ponytail. And the belly button ring stays, even though no one will ever see it in public. (On the plus side, my collections of neon tights and hair scrunchies have been permanently retired!) The important thing is to enjoy who you are at any age. - High heels? No dark lipstick? No glasses? Guess I'm not going to look young, then. I've got to wear glasses (I have an eye condition that means no contacts or surgery) and I love my plum lipstick. Can't wear heels either (joint issues). Oh well! Be yourself, that's my motto.
