Charlie Rymer - Golf Commentator with Great Sense of Humor!

Charlie Rymer has been a golf announcer at ESPN since 1998. His wit and humor adds delight to each golf event. He was a member of the PGA Tour in 1995, 1996 and 1997. His best finish was at the Shell Houston Open in 1995 where he finished in third place. Charlie also won the 1994 Nationwide Tour South Carolina Classic.

As a junior golfer, he won the SC Junior Championship three times! He was the 1985 USGA Junior Champion and was twice named Collegiate All-American at Georgia Tech.

In fact, Charlie was the first recipient of the Bobby Jones scholarship at Georgia Tech.

Update: I got a note from Charlie today after he saw this lens. He said
"Joan,

It looks great!

I'm still mad at Randy beating me in the CGA Junior. And since I beat Tiger in the 1997 Buick Classic (he was 43rd, I was 39th), you can deduct that Randy could beat Tiger.

I'll be co-hosting the 11th season of The Big Break on The Golf Channel. We tape the next 2 weeks in Canada and the series will air April, May, and June 2009.

Hello to Whitey.

All the best,

Charlie

Charlie Rymer!

Personal notes about Charlie

Charlie and our son Randy have been friends since they played Junior golf together. Charlie lived in nearby Tega Cay, SC. Randy and his dad would enjoy playing against Charlie and his dad. Randy did beat Charlie in the 1983 Carolinas Junior Championship -- a victory that Charlie has never forgiven! They are dear friends to this day.

Recently Charlie arrived in Rock Hill, SC, our home town, as the guest speaker for the Adams Cup Golf Tournament. The team rolled with laughter as Charlie told tale after tale of his experiences as a player and announcer.

Charlie, we salute you!

I really liked the little cartoons.Hitting the ball from where it lies in my game means going from even par to six or seven strokes over. And im talking about a 9 hole par 3 course.
