Want A Harry Potter Scarf? Charmed Knits Projects Will Help You Knit One For You Or For Your Fan of Harry Potter!

Since the very first Harry Potter movie, I have wanted a Harry Potter scarf. I even went so far as to purchase the yarn, in burgundy and gold, to make one. However, all these years have passed (the first Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was released in 2001) and I still don't have one.

It was therefore with interest that I read of Charmed Knits: Projects for Fans of Harry Potter by Alison Hansel. For the price of not much more than a single pattern, I can have a book packed with projects for people like myself who love Harry Potter!

Granted many of the patterns will be beyond my knitting ability, for I believe that remembering how to knit well enough to do a scarf will be a challenge. Knitting a sweater or a pair of socks, well, let's just say THAT should prove beyond my meagre knitting ability.

On this page, find my review (for what it is worth) of this knitting pattern book PLUS (and more importantly) find the review of other knitters, amateur and expert and even those who are somewhere in between in knitting ability. I hope it inspires you to make a scarf or a sweater or eve a pair of socks, if that is what interests you. And don't forget you can always ask a knitting grandma, aunt or friend to create an item for you...that may be the answer to my quest for a Harry Potter scarf!

Amazon Customer Reviews Of Charmed Knits

"I'm a Muggle with a Potterhead 14 year-old daughter and four members of my sister's family, all certifiably batty over the Harry Potter books. Lots of good, fun knits in this book. Big projects, medium project, little projects - they're all here. Most of them run the size gamut from toddler to adult XXL - good show, Alison Hansel. The Invisibility Shawl in pale gray laceweight cashmere is gorgeous. The little house scarves as bookmarks are adorable. 90 percent of the garments and accessories are very wearable." ~ Music lover from Wisconsin

"I am an enormous fan of Harry Potter and an admittedly novice knitter who overestimated her ability. I bought this with the intention of becoming a master knitter and I don't regret it. There are patterns for newbs and experts alike; all very cute and wizardy. I would recommend this to anyone with the slightest interest in knitting -- it's awesome." ~ manchesterunicorn

"I love this book!! if you are a Harry Potter fan and a knitter, you have to get this book. There are patterns for just about everyone in this book and they range from super basic beginner to really advanced. Every pattern in the book is inspired by stuff in the movie so if you, like me, have always wanted a weasley sweater or quidditch socks this book is definitely for you." ~ Adrienne Mueller

Charmed Knits Projects for Fans of Harry Potter Review From About.com
"This book will be a big hit with Harry Potter fans of all ages. I would recommend it for those who have, at a minimum, a firm grasp of knitting basics. While there are quite a few patterns for beginning and intermediate knitters, some of the patterns really are "Nastily Exhausting" and should only be undertaken by an experienced, and patient, knitter. It's important that young knitters have a realistic view of their own abilities and a willingness to stick to patterns below or at their own skill level so they don't get overwhelmed and frustrated."
Charmed Knits Harry Potter Knits Review From About.com
"This book is whimsical and a lot of fun for Harry Potter fans, but it's usefulness doesn't end when you've made a hat, scarf and sweater in your favorite house colors."
Charmed Knits Harry Potter Knits Review From Knittingneels
"Patterns are clear and well written with larger-than-normal text. Pattern difficulty is rated from First Year (easy), OWL level (moderate) to NEWT (difficult). What I like most about the book is the versatility of the patterns. Sizes for most garments are given from a small child's right up to an adult's XXL."

"There is a section on knitting
techniques and abbreviations
included that will explain all
to novice knitters..."

The items featured here are smashing! I've don't plan to knit anything myself because Mrs. Wesley and Ginny keep me well stocked in charming knits.
