Google Project 10 to the 100th

Google is looking for ideas to help make the world a better place, and we would love to see that happen. For the next few days we will be posting our ideas for the Project 10 to the 100th Project 10 to the 100th and we'd love to hear your comments on them, and any ideas of your own. Let's start a dialog on the most important thing in the world - helping the world itself

WE HAVE TO FACE IT: The only cure for depression is Truth and "Higher" Education

The dramatic depression rise in this generation indicates that people feel empty, and see no point in living. Their lives are filled with pain, and no one can give them an answer as to "Why should they bear with this pain instead of ending it all?"

THE CURRENT SITUATION IS A THRESHOLD, a time of transition. People are beginning to realize that something is terribly missing from their lives, that all the pleasures of good food, sex, money, fame, power and even knowledge don't fulfill them, but make them feel even worse.

On the other side of the threshold, people will embrace a life on a higher level, on par with the Upper Force or God. This is the next step of human evolution, and the evolutionary process can be accelerated by educating people about the bigger scheme of life. Only this can eliminate the stark suicide and depression rates that mark this critical transition phase.

Millions of young people suffer from suicidal tendencies, depression and drug addiction because they're hopeless. A medicine cabinet filled with anti-depressants isn't going to help; THEY NEED REAL ANSWERS.

The knowledge that the wisdom of Kabbalah conveys is SIMPLE: The whole of existence runs on a single law: the LAW OF GIVING, unity and reciprocity. In nature, everything is united; and if it doesn't seem that way to us, it is because of our inability to see the underlying connections. Therefore, if you know this common law and how to work with it, you know THE KEY TO A GOOD LIFE in the present and FOR ALL TIME. Teaching this law is the essence of spiritual education.

Children can only implement what they have learned after observing examples set by adults. Proper education stems solely from PERSONAL EXAMPLE. One of the problems in today's world is that WE BEHAVE OPPOSITE TO WHAT WE TEACH. For example, while we teach altruistic values of giving and sharing, we conduct ourselves to the contrary.

Such contradictions evoke confusion and disrespect in children toward their parents. However, IN AN EDUCATION SYSTEM BASED ON THE LAW OF GIVING AND UNITY, PARENTS' PERSONAL EXAMPLES OF ALTRUISTIC VALUES WILL BE IN HARMONY WITH WHAT THEY TEACH.

At What Age Can You Be Depressed?

Depression does not discriminate

Statistics show that PEOPLE OF ALL AGES ARE DEPRESSED:
  • In childhood

  • During the teenage years

  • In adulthood

  • And in old age

  • At all ages, depression greatly increases the chances of death caused by heart attacks, lowers the immune system's efficiency, degrades relationships, work and home life, and causes disability. Depressed people of all ages end their lives in suicide.

Depression is the newest epidemic sweeping across the world, affecting adults, teenagers, and even children. In fact, surveys have indicated that one in every five teenagers suffers from clinical depression (NMHA 2004). The illness can be found anywhere and appears to make the news each and every day. Depression is a condition that has no preference in its victims, meaning that it will strike people of all ages, races, and backgrounds. However, research has indicated that the onset of depression is now occurring earlier in life compared to past decades (Klerman and Weissman 1989). Knowing this, DEPRESSION IS A CONDITION THAT NEEDS TO BE CURED IMMEDIATELY. Link for more info.

Teen suicide is a major problem in our society today. The adolescent suicide rate has tripled since 1960, while being the largest cause of death between the ages of 15 and 24. "There are about 10,000 reported suicides reported annually. It is estimated however, that the true number of teen suicides is actually three to four times that number when unreported deaths are factored in.

FACT: Suicide is a prevalent cause of death among America's youth today. Every day more than 1000 teenagers will think about suicide and eighteen will be successful in committing it. It is an ever-growing problem. Research shows that most teens attempting to commit suicide regret it at the last minute and wish they could live after all"
