A Little About Chastity Belts
Chastity belts are obviously meant to make sexual intercourse difficult, if not impossible, while they are worn. In Medieval literature, it was occasionally referenced as a promise of fidelity between lovers. One story has it that the original version of these belts was invented by Crusaders who worried about their wives remaining chaste while they were off making war in the Middle East. The modern version is believed to have originated in Italy and saw widespread use in the 19th century, when the Church and medical profession worried about the moral and physical effects of youthful sexual conduct. They also became popular with women whose daily lives might lead them into situations where they might have been sexually harassed or assaulted. Models with locks became increasingly popular and, in the 21st century, are a common variety used in foreplay.
