My family has been lucky - others haven't

I feel quite foortunate that this is a topic I actually had to go research to put this lens up. My extended family has been extremely lucky to not have had to deal with this.

There are numerous different congenital heart defects. It can happen with any part of the heart. Unfortunately, from what I have read prevention is not an answer but the good thing is that quite often through the talents of some great surgeons these things can be corrected.

The problem is that despite the strides that have been made in fixing this problem the cost is sometimes prohibitive for some families. Now I don't know about you but I would do just about any thing if this were the case for someone in my family.

One of the people that works tirelssly to provide funds for those in need is a gentleman I have conversed with and truly respect - Dr. Mani.

He runs a few sites just to raise funds to fund operations for those that can't affoerd it. He does a 24 hour blogathon each year and on Valentine's day always Check out his site at A Day For Heart Awareness.

Twitter Thon

This year instead of having a Blogathon Dr Mani will be having a TwitterAThon. Make sure to follow his 24 hour Twitter fest on September 12th. I have added the feed below and will be also participating with my TwitterThon too.

Valentines Day is a day for the kids but you can donate anytime

Valentine's Day is the day for lovers. This year show a bit of love to those that are less fortunate and help a child by supporting heart day at CHD Info. Helping others is a great way to start this day of love.

Then go enjoy your day with your special someone and enjoy the glow from your good deed.

Congenital Heart Disease - Why do I care?

Quite truthfully the reason I care about this topic is one person - Dr. Mani. He has my utmost respect as he is a heart surgeon, runs an internet business and puts a lot of the time and money from that business to helping children with heart defects get the operation they need when it can't be afforded any other way.

He has provided me with good information for my business over the time I have known him and the very least I can do to repay that kindness is to help him raise awareness and funds for the children that wouldn't be able to get the operations they so desparately need.

Like I stated above I have been lucky in that this has not been something my family or I have has to deal with. Whether you have or haven't please take the time to support this worthy cause.

Go to the Congenital Heart Defects page and help out any way you can. The children that will benefit from this thank you.

Wonderful lens and I am also with you on being fortunate enough to not know anyone at this time with CHD so I had to research it to make a lens. I feel for the kids and families that have to go through such pain and suffering :(
