Cheap Hotels Near Disneyland

The rooms have to be decent and clean. That's why I have looked at the reviews to get a good impression of how other visitors experienced the hotels.

The "on-site" Disneyland hotels are generally much more expensive than some of the hotels I found in the area. Most of these are at least $100/night, or even much more depending on the season. I also read that "some of the cheaper hotels are actually closer to the park itself than some of the "on-site" hotels mentioned on the Disneyland website." That sounds like good news to me.

The official Disneyland address is 1313 South Harbor Boulevard. The "1313" is a tribute to Mickey Mouse, as the letter "M" is the 13th letter of the alphabet.

We have several reasons to stay in a hotel as close to the Disneyland's front gates as possible.

It is far more easier to go back to the hotel to take a break. The same goes for the evening. After a full day of Disneyland fun when you are tired you don't want to have to drive, take a long walk or having to catch shuttle buses to your accommodation.

There is Disneyland transportation available throughout Anaheim but walking is the simplest method to return to your accommodation without having to wait for one to turn up, and then make all its stops on its route.

I have found some really cheap and decent hotels near Disneyland so being close to the park saves money to park or hire a car or the 4$ for the shuttle buses.

It seems the Disneyland shops are the most crowded at closing time. Most people don't want to carry their souvenirs around all day. So if we plan to leave during this busy period in the middle of the day we are going to shop then and drop them off at or nearby hotel.

Apart from that I found out that "The closer you stay to Disneyland the bigger the fireworks look, the more music you can hear from parades and the more attractions you can see from your hotel" This really adds to the atmosphere of the whole short Disneyland vacation.

My search for budget hotels for less than $100 a night has lead to the following accommodations. Prices going up:

• Anaheim Plaza Hotel & Suites


• Del Sol Inn Anaheim


• Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel Anaheim


• Fairfield Inn Disneyland Resort Anaheim

These cheap hotels near Disneyland are just across the street. All of these are most definitely within walking distance of the theme park's gates.

Howard Johnson Plaza hotel also known as HoJo's is a 'lodge-style' accommodation. Meaning the hotel is laid out in a number of two-floor buildings.

"the room was enormous, with two double beds (we only needed one, but this seems to be a standard in Anaheim). The room really seems to be designed for families, with another single fold-out bed in the huge walk-in closet. The bathroom was adequate with adjustable shower-head. A real plus was an extra sink and mirror outside the bathroom, which meant I could shave while my partner showered. I was surprised that mini-fridges weren't standard in US hotels, but the HoJo had one, pushing it above the line for me."

Directly across the street from the Disneyland. Disney inspired hotel rooms that include queen or king beds and available pull out sofa beds. There is also a game room for the kids and a pool for the whole family.

"This hotel was very clean, quiet and comfortable. The staff was very friendly. Just across the street from Disneyland. I would definitely stay here again."

During my search for cheap hotels near Disneyland I stumbled upon motel 6 main gate and super 8 motel. At first they seemed a good alternative but when looking closer, I found these hotels are further away from the Disneyland gates and the reviews are less forgiving then the hotels I have listed on this page.

* Dec 23, 2008: "we got what we paid for"

We will be staying at the Anaheim Plaza hotel & suites or HoJo's ( Howard Johnson)

The latter is a little bit further from the entrance of Disneyland but has great entertainment features for the kids. However we have to make sure to get a room on the quit side of the hotel. (not near the freeway )

Our other favorite is the Anaheim Plaza. Seems like a great money for value ratio and is very close. Actually we also like the Del Sol because they have refrigerators on the rooms too. Overall we have chosen for Hojo's this time, also because we have read many good stories about this hotel.

The Fairfield Inn is a bit more expensive and offers no complimentary breakfast.

Disneyland tickets are much more expensive at the gate than ordering them through the mail at Disney.com .

So it might be wise to get your tickets either online or through a package deal with an hotel or airline. Ordering tickets online or through a package also eliminates one more line that you will need to stand in. (You have to keep in mind shipping charges if you order tickets on line.)
