Cheap Wedding Venues--Funeral Homes

Ranked #2,418 in Weddings, #203,986 overall

Frugal weddings

The average United States wedding costs over $25,000. If that seems ridiculous in the current economy, why not try to think outside the box for every part of your wedding. You can have a dream wedding without having to plan for two years in advance and spend an exhorbitant amount on one day of your life. You can save money on your wedding and have an exquisite wedding day all at the same time.

Why not consider having your wedding in a funeral home?

Pros of a Wedding in a Funeral Home

1. Most funeral homes are furnished lavishly. Chandeliers hang from the ceilings and things like marble floors and expensive decor are normal.

2. With the economy, wedding venues are struggling to keep afloat. The ones that do succeed, are booked up to two or three years in advance.

3. The price of funeral homes can be very reasonable. They, too, are struggling financially, and using their space for other activities seems natural.

4. Churches are used for weddings and funerals. Why not funeral homes.

5. Clergy and musicians are already on staff.

6. Funeral homes are used to arranging big events--they have limousines and staff to handle a big event.

7. Funeral homes are undoubtedly cheaper to rent than wedding venues.

Cons of a Funeral Home for a Wedding

1. The creepy factor. Many people can't get beyond this one fact.
2. Tunnel vision. Most people can't get passed the image of a happy event in a sad place.
3. Change is hard.
4. Dealing with other people's perceptions could be hard.

This is a great, unusual idea for a cheap wedding venue!

I'm A-Okay, as long as the marriage is in no "grave" danger! :)

MarigoldTortelli says:

I like this idea for a wedding venue. It would save money, and it's not like you would have the wedding in a room with a bunch of caskets.

This is a creepy idea--Can't get over the creepiness

How fun to find this because I just saw something about wedding and other celebrations being held at funeral homes...what a great idea as these are people who know how to help plan an event.

Wow! I would have to think about this for a while if my child wanted to get married in a funeral home. It seems kind of morbid. For the right couple, with the right friends, it could be a natural. The perfect location for a goth wedding, I think!

I read about this somewhere recently. Very interesting concept to have a wedding in a funeral home but I have seen some gorgeous funeral homes so makes good sense to me.
