There are plenty of great Phuket hotels and resorts that go for about $100 to $200 a night. There are hotels and resorts like this all over Phuket. These places are perfect for families as they come with a full range of facilities and amenities.
But not everyone has that kind of money to splash around. There are also Phuket hotels that will set you back $40 to $100 a night. These hotels are perfectly acceptable and would suit travellers trying to keep their costs down.
Of course, Phuket was once a haven for backpackers and there are still many travellers who come in search of cheap Phuket guesthouses and hostels. It's possible to sleep in Phuket for less than $10 a night. You won't get much more than a bed, but you'll have plenty of money left over to spend on the rest of your trip.
Choosing the location of your Phuket hotel

Phuket Town is a fun little place to book a Phuket hotel. There are lots of backpacker guesthouses and a few decent mid-range hotels to boot. The area is interesting, full of colonial buildings and suchlike.
If you want serious privacy and seclusion, booking one of the Phuket resorts or hotels in the northern or southern parts of the island might be just the ticket. Take Mai Khao and Nai Yang in the north for example. Most travellers don't venture that far, so you can have the beaches more or less to yourself without fear of bumping into people all the time. Down south, Cape Panwa is more of them same with some top luxury resorts as well.
Taking care in Phuket hotels
While most Phuket hotels have honest, reputable staff, there are a few that aren't quite as savoury. Especially in Patong, there are some hotels that you might want to avoid. When choosing a Patong hotel, do your research and read the customer reviews. Also make a point to Google search the name of the hotel and see if it comes up in any discussions on local forums.There have been numerous cases of travellers having goods and money stolen from their Patong hotel rooms. One common complaint is of money going missing from room safes. Not even a safe is safe in some places.
We don't mean to you off Phuket hotels, though. If you're paying good money and the hotel has a stirling reputation, you needn't worry. Your valuables will likely be safe. Common sense usually prevails when it comes to Phuket hotels.
Where to book your cheap Phuket hotels
