Does your job affect your insurance premium?
You can save
One of the factors in determining your insurance premium is your job/trade/profession.
You might be able to get cheaper car insurance by re-defining how you name your job when you get an online quote! According recent research if you define your job as "barrister" you may pay more than if you say "lawyer". A "builder" may pay more than a "bricklayer". That's not to say you should lie about your job. To claim that you are a accountant (low insurance risk) when you're really a TV reporter isn't allowed! However there are many jobs that could be defined under different titles. Most people think it doesn't matter - but it does. So as well as getting quotes from different insurers, it's well worth getting different quotes for different but relevant job titles.
Another potential area for saving is when you are asked to enter your annual mileage. You should check what your mileage was last year, and if you think it'll be about the same this year, put that figure. Don't think - " I think it's less than 15,000" and put that when in fact it's less than 12,000. You could end up paying too much for your car insurance.
When using an insurance price comparison website, make sure you are comparing like for like. One insurer may quote a lower premium but have a higher excess if you have an accident.
Amongst the best price comparison sites is Budget. You could save up to 20% on your car insurance with BUDGET!
