Cheapest Kindle: What's the Best Deal on Amazon Kindle?

With so many Kindles offered, it's no surprise if you're asking "what's the cheapest Kindle?" Amazon currently offers six models, ranging from a simple e-reader to a full-color smart reader. Some Kindles even give you the choice between having ads displayed or not. It can be difficult to determine what the cheapest Kindle is--and more importantly--what the cheapest Kindle is for you.

With so many options, how do you choose? If you're looking for the cheapest Kindle, the choice is easy. I've given several of these as gifts (and gave the Kindle many times this past Christmas), so read on to learn what I choose as the best low-cost Kindle, hands-down.

The cheapest Kindle starts at a low price of only $79. This is much different from when the Kindle was first announced many years ago--you're saving hundreds of dollars off that original price. This cheap Kindle is the cheapest Kindle available because ads are displayed--that is the only difference between the $79 Kindle and the $109 Kindle.

At first, I thought this might be distracting (for those of you with smart phones, you know how annoying it can be when you are in the middle of playing of game and an advertisement interrupts your play), however, these have a distinct advantage--on top of this cheap price! Read on to learn more.

Cheapest Kindle Available: $109

What's the Difference?: No ads

This cheap Kindle is your classic Kindle, but at a low price! This device doesn't display ads, so you'll be getting a traditional reading experience. The difference between the $109 version and the $79 version is just that: no ads on this cheap Kindle.

That is a super-low deal on your classic Kindle. This is the perfect gift for avid readers, travelers and so many more.

Should You Choose Ads or No Ads?

...and what I picked!

The only difference between these two cheap Kindles (both the classic and the Touch) is that one displays ads and one does not. Like I mentioned above, my first thought was to buy the one without ads as I didn't want my reading experience to be disrupted, however, I have since wholeheartedly changed my mind.

The ads are only displayed when you're not reading. Just to emphasize that point further, the ads do NOT in any way interrupt or distract. They are only shown on your home screen or when the screensaver is turned on.

But, going with the cheapest Kindle at $79 can even save you more money in the long run! Recent ads have been very beneficial to Amazon customers. Some offers have included:

~$10 for $20 Amazon.com Gift Card
~Save up to $500 off Amazon's already low prices on select HDTVs
~$1 for a Kindle book, choose from thousands of books

I'll take Amazon coupons and Amazon discounts, thank you very much!

(And for those of you that were wondering, I chose the Kindle Touch with Ads--I love the ease of tapping to turn the pages which allows me to use either hand. This was important for me because I read in alot of different body positions. If I'm laying in bed, reclining on the beach or sitting on a plane, my hands shift. The Touch doesn't require me to adjust my hands to read.)

If you're looking for a cheap Kindle that is a touchscreen Kindle, this is it. So many people are used to touchscreen capability (most everyone has a smartphone these days), and this new Kindle mimics that. This Kindle Touch has a feature called EasyReach--basically, you can hold it in either hand and simply tap to advance the pages. Other eReaders make you swipe to turn the pages; this one is MUCH easier. This holds 3,000 books and the battery lasts almost 2 months without a charge.

I really like this lens :) It's straight to the point and helpful. I'd like to get the Kindle Touch... never really knew about the ads before. Now, I'm wondering "are the links to Amazon's own site or to a 3rd party." Thanks for the information you provided. I never really knew how awesome eReaders really are until I held one in a store. It's amazing how they really do look like paper and how much you can do with them (buy, share, lend etc).

Not all of them point to Amazon--but the Amazon ones are the only ones I am interested in!
