Isn't having fun part of the college experience? How much fun would you have is you had an extra couple of hundred dollars in your pocket? It's just not right the way campus bookstores stick it to us on the price of books.
does you college encourage you to get your books at the on campus bookstore? Mine does. Thre's a HUGE markup for books and they're making a killing overcharging. Last semester I saved almost 400 dollars getting my College Textbooks onlne.

don't let the price of textbooks scare you
Remember that the college is wanting to make as much money on students as they can. This is why the cafeteria food is so expensive. Have you noticed the cost of books at the local on campus bookstore? The reason they're so pricey is that there is a LOT of PROFIT in selling those books. So of course the college will do everything to encourage you to buy your books there so they can make more $$$. See, they have an interest in making us students buy from their store. It's expensive for us but it's good business for them
Another thing to watch out for is the different 'editions" Many publishers will change edition numbers on books to eliminate the competition of USED textbooks. This makes the next semesters books so much more expensive.
The thing to do is to see WHY the edition has changed. Was it major changes in information or simply some minor updates. If minor, find the USED book and take an extra note or two when your in the class.
Many teachers will actually help students by telling them abut this tip to save and get the cheapest textbook prices anywhere.
