3 Tips to Remember So Your 'Cheap' Prom Dress Looks 3 Times It's Price!

What matters more than how much your dress cost is how you look in it. Here are three tips to help you look great in your dress no matter how much it cost you.

1. Get the right size - Never get a dress that is too small (or too big) because you are trying to save money. In some cases, a dress that is too big can be tailored down to fit which is okay but there's nothing you can do about a dress that is too small. Not only will you be uncomfortable but it will look bad and it will look "cheap". Always make sure it fits you well and suits your body type.

2. Accessorize- Another great way to make your cheap dress look like a million bucks is to add the right accessories. Some dazzling earrings and a stunning necklace can turn the ordinary gown into a prom fashion to remember.

3. Choose the right colour and style- Choosing a dress that looks fabulous on you will be successful no matter what the price.

What Are the Different Grades of 'Cheap' Prom Dresses?

When we talk about a "cheap" prom dress, it doesn't mean the dress has to be substandard or not as good as a more expensive one. In fact, the price of the dress doesn't guarantee that it will look better than a cheaper dress. But when comparing the price of a prom dress, there are different grades we can look at in relation to the cost, style and other details.

For example, some designers work hard to make very nice, designer-looking styles at a fraction of the price. These designers create high-quality dresses for low price. There are some designers that are incredibly expensive because their price is based partially on their name. You are paying for the tag and the name of the designer, not the actually quality of the gown. The prom dress may not be any different or any better than a similar dress from another designer or name brand.

A truly cheap dress as far as quality goes is one that may not hold up to regular wear and usage. Remember if you're only planning to wear this for one night, it might not matter. Inspect it will to make sure no hems or edges are coming loose. Try to shop from someplace that has a good reputation of making quality designs that hold up well even if they are low cost.

5 Tips to Help You Save Money When Picking Out Your Prom Dress

Almost everyone wants to be able to save money when picking out their prom dress. Here are some great ways you can save while shopping for a prom dress.

1. Shop for multiple uses- Invest in a dress that can later be worn for another function and you will feel better about spending the money.

2. Shop Online - Online stores and shops allow you to get a better deal

3. Shop consignment stores- Looking in consignment shops and stores gives you a chance to save more on your prom dress

4. Shop sales- Look for special sales and discounts that may be happening in your area and in local shops. There may be a promotion or a special clearance on a brand or some other type of sale you can take advantage of.

5. Shop early- Getting your shopping done early and beating the pre-prom rush is another great way to save lots of money when picking out your prom dress.

How Hard Is It to Create Your Own Dress?

Have you ever thought about creating your own dress for the prom? Are you creative or do you have a special eye for fashion and have always dreamed of designing the perfect gown? How hard is it to create your own dress for the prom?

When it comes to designing your own dress, there are different levels of options that you have. Each one will affect the cost of the overall project and the time and budget involved in designing your own dress.

You can choose to design it yourself or you might choose from existing designs. You can both create the design and have a professional sewer put it together or you can create the design and sew it yourself. Or you might purchase an existing design but sew it yourself.

If you do not have the proper sewing skills, you will not be able to sew it yourself successfully but that does not mean you can't have a hand in what your dress will look like. You can create and design your own dress and then hand the pattern and design as well as colors of material, fabric to be used and other details over to a professional to put it all together.

When deciding to create the dress yourself, you will also need to be sure you figure in the cost of materials and if you have to hire a professional, there will be fees for their services as well.

Can You Afford to Spend a Bit More and Then Make Some Money Back By Selling Your Dress After Your Prom?

Some people decide to go that extra mile and spend a bit more on the perfect dress in hopes that they can resell it after the prom and make some of their money back. In some cases, this might work out well for you. But before you know for sure, there are a few things you should consider?

1. Will you need the money back right away? It could take some time to sell the dress, especially if it is right after prom. You might not be able to resell it until before prom next year.

2. What if something happens to the dress? You always have to keep in mind that something could happen to the dress on the night of the prom to damage it and make it unable to be resold.

If you decide to go ahead with the plan to resell your dress and recoup some of the costs, please keep these following tips in mind.

The price will take a considerable cut once it is used. The dress you paid $1,000 for may only sell for $300 or so even if it is still in "brand new" looking condition. Keep in mind that the price will drop considerably for anything used.

Consider trying to sell your dress online. You may get better offers than you would locally for it.

Know that there is always a possibility that you may not be able to resell the dress.
