Find Sports Tickets to Sold Out Events

The big game is sold out. You've tried Ticketmaster, but can't find any tickets. What do you do? This guide will walk you through how to buy tickets to any sporting event - even ones that are sold out.

Quick Start

Lucky for you, even if the game is sold out on Ticketmaster, the internet offers various options for purchasing tickets on the secondary ticket market. The most popular site to purchase secondary market tickets from is Stubhub. However, due to excess demand for sold-out game tickets, it's important to shop around before buying. The sites listed below offer thousands of tickets to nearly any sporting event imaginable.

Other Ticket Finding Tips

1. The Longer You Wait the Better
Although not always the case, prices tend to go down as the event approaches and people rush to sell their tickets. If you can hold off on buying the tickets in advance, it's normally worth it.
2. Understand the Protection
Understand what happens if the tickets are either invalid or for the wrong seat. Stubhub offers a Fan Protect Guarantee. The other sites listed above offer guarantees as well. If buying from a different site be sure to ask about their buyer protection.
2. Avoid Ebay
Ebay doesn't offer the 100% guarantees provided by the sites listed above. Instead you're at the mercy of the seller. Although EBay is sometimes cheaper - paying a few extra dollars for protection is well worth it.
4. Write down the Phone Number
Be sure to write down the phone number of the website you bought the tickets from. That way, in the rare occurrence of a problem, you'll have a number to call to get the situation resolved.
5. Check the Secondary Market for Non-sold Out Games Too!
If you're thinking about attending a game that more than likely isn't sold out (for example, a weekday game) be sure to check the secondary ticket market. You can often find tickets priced significantly below face value.
