Wicked the Musical, the untold story of the witches of Oz, has become one of the most popular musicals of the century. The musical features music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (Godspell, Pippin, Academy Award winner for Pocahontas and The Prince of Egypt) and book by Winnie Holzman ("My So Called Life," "Once And Again" and "thirtysomething"), and is based on the best-selling novel by Gregory Maguire. The show started on broadway in New York and is now being performed in many cities including Los Angeles, Boston, Cleveland, Chicago, Detriot and London, UK.
With musical staging by Tony Award winner Wayne Cilento, WICKED is directed by 2003 Tony Award winner Joe Mantello (Take Me Out, Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, A Man of No Importance). Wicked the musical turns every OZ myth upside down. It explores the early life of the two witches of OZ: Glinda and Elphaba. This is of course before they became the wicked witch and the good witch. The two main characters meet at Shiz, a school where both hope to take up sorcery. Glinda is very popular and Elphaba is not only unpopular, but also green from head to toe.

This musical is absolutely amazing. I have never ever clapped so much - it is exciting to see this and everything about it is amazing. The singing is absolutely amazing - Kerry Ellis is the best singer I have ever heard! There is a scene which makes me cry even when I hear the music of it. Every scene gets you clapping at the end of it and you just walk out thinking "Oh..my..goodness.." and a person I know who totally dislikes musicals came to me and went "Thank you for making me see Wicked - it was amazing."
