Cheerleading stunt secrets, hints and tips
I will devote this lens to everything cheerleading stunts. Check back here regularly for new resources, videos, hints and much more...
Everything needs a foundation; especially a cheerleading stunt
Basing is the key to successful stunting, it all starts here...
The bases in cheerleading are arguably the most important element of a stunt. Without the base, the foundation, things fall apart. The bases lift or throw the flyer and they also have to catch them.
I read recently in the About.com cheerleading forum, that basing was voted the most important position in cheerleading.
Often bases are the strongest members of the team, but their skill and commitment are more important attributes. Without these two i won't matter how strong you are.
Here are some tips on basing:
- you must be confident, believe you can do it
- reliability and trust; these are key, you must know you can trust your team and them you
- never bend your back; never.
- lift through your legs; power is in the legs
- don't talk during stunts
- smile during stunts; enjoy it
- do your safety research before getting out there
You can do it.
