It is graded for 18mos+, but I still remember our son playing with this book on his own at the age of 6-8 months. He didn't play with it much as a "book" but was fascinated by the mouse and the string.

Of course, it is more fun to play with this book together than all alone. I remember moving the mouse slowly through the hole only to be met with the small hand of a child and a loud giggle. Sometimes our son was fast enough, other times he just missed the mouse.

The pages are made of solid wood and the illustrations are printed directly onto the wood, so there is no peeling to worry about. The durable wood will withstand chewing, saliva, and attempts to "tear" the pages. It is certified to meets all US safety standards.
