Chemical Peel Benefits
What Are The Benefits of Chemical Peels?
Rejuvenate skin with chemical peels
There are different chemicals which are used in a chemical peel, depending upon the nature of the problem and its solution. The doctor is the best judge of this. To undergo a light chemical peel one does not need sedation and one can be back to work within a few days. There is no surgery involved and neither is hospitalization. It is a non invasive procedure which has benefited millions. In the US alone, several thousand chemical peels take place each year.
There are several types of chemical peel. In the most common one, just one sitting may be required and the person gets a fresh younger attractive look which lasts for many years. The skin problems like wrinkles, discoloration and lines are removed using an acid and the new skin is formed without all these blemishes. The procedure is also very simple and takes just an hour or two.
The face gets a softer younger look after using a chemical peel. The procedure can be likened to what happens if one gets a severe exposure to the sun and the skin gets a sun burn. The top layer of the skin gets peeled off and a fresh new skin grows in its place. That is also the principal of a chemical peel. Different chemicals suiting different types of skin are used. The doctor first ensures that the skin is scrubbed clean. Sometimes medications which a patient may have been using are stopped before a week if they are likely to interfere in the working of the chemical peel. The doctor is the best judge and he should be taken into confidence and all medical problems discussed with him before any such procedure is done.
Once the skin is cleaned of any make up or any other cream or gel, the chemical peel is applied. It is left on the skin for about ten to fifteen minutes and is then washed away with water. The face is covered with Vaseline or some such gel and protected from the sun and heat. The outer skin gets peeled off and the fresh skin which may be pink will soon become normal. Within a few weeks the face will look radiant. This is why you need a chemical face peel.
