A Biochemist's Knitting Perspective

ChemKnits is a blog that I created late in 2008 when I realized that some things I was doing could be beneficial to the general public. I was looking for some ear flap hat patterns, and couldn't find a source where the were all in one place. I started a list in a word document, with the title, link and a short description. My epiphany: if I am searching for this, maybe others are, too! ChemKnits was born! I soon started designing patterns to link science and knitting. I share projects that I am making with step by step photos, commenting on how I like the patterns that I find.

My hobby expanded to dyeing yarn, and writing book reviews. My favorite thing about blogging is that everything I do is primarily for myself. I want to have an organization of the projects I've completed and the details I discovered that made them easier. I encourage you to check out my blog, or see what else I can offer here on Squidoo.

Instructional video on this fun knitting technique

On my blog, I started getting numerous questions to explain various knitting techniques. I started creating knitting videos and putting them on YouTube. The following is one of my most popular videos.

"K1B is a knitting technique that allows you to create vertical stripes, mix up variegated yarns and more. This is one of my most popular knitting videos."
