You are Life and Life is bigger than any disease...
Exposure to radiation or environmental pollutants ( amiant ), prolonged exposure to chemical factors (smoking, eating processed foods etc ), long term hormonal imbalances, over- exposure to stress that caused excessive excretion of gastric acids to the stomach, exposure to very low frequency sounds below the human threshold of hearing, produced by the parallel electrified wires of city trolleys etc, infectious agents, can be initiators of the wrong operon-site's expression.
Next, this operon-site ignites the protein synthesis of a series of substances that make these cells behave weirdly and abnormally compared to the normal ones. Apart from their exceedingly frequent proliferation, the cancer cells may produce substances that make them adhere to the walls of the blood vessels, therefore transfer themselves to other parts of the body far away from their initial site. They can also produce hormone-like substances that cause major effects. The rapidly dividing cancer-cells may either accumulate themselves in colonies/masses towards forming tumors that expand and put pressure on adjacent organs also demanding a lot of blood provided to them through vessels that have been formed solely for this purpose (angiogenesis), or they expand through corrosion , a more invasive and aggressive pattern which leads to practically consuming whatever stands in their way. This was an attempt for a short description of cancer's physiology on a micro-cellular level.
In Ancient Greece and other great civilizations, disease was considered a deviation from the absolute equilibrium state, defined by both physical, mental, spiritual and emotional parameters. In modern times, we tend to examine the disease under the scholastic light of science and its classified knowledge. What we all tend to ignore though, specialists and non specialists, is the basic principle that applies in Medicine as in many other fields which is that : the disease may be common for many people but EACH PATIENT is a completely UNIQUE case.
What makes a case UNIQUE is the person. You better keep this major truth in your mind and consciously think about it. The more you analyze it, the closer you'll get to the conclusion that everything is "up to you". The disease will be as short and as defeating as you've decided it to be. Success in life comes when we are counter-intuitive and don't do what the majority of people would do. The same applies into succeeding in your fight against the disease. Go against the odds, do the unthinkable, be unconventional, be unpredictable%u2026.keep living ignoring it, minimizing the disease's "space" in your life. Choose to expel it from your reality.
You can also see it from another perspective. The "economy" of life dictates you go by the FLOW, and follow the stream. By quitting and indulging into self-pity patterns , you only weaken the Master of the situation which is : YOU.

Mary's summer.
A real life story.
It all started a bright Thursday when Mary noticed a node on her right breast close to her armpit. The family was packing for their Summer Vacation to Thassos Island, and she being a maniac with cleanness couldn't stand the idea of leaving home untidy, so she was doing the windows.Instantly she felt a time-gap as if she was beamed into another time dimension , not there, not in her life, not in that reality...somewhere else. Her stomach stiff and her fingers icy cold dialing her husband's mobile phone number.
-Honey, I'm having something in my breast...I'm scared...she couldn't keep her voice steady...
-On my way home baby...stay calm...we'll have it checked...I love you...
Mary had her right breast surgically removed shortly after she got diagnosed with breast cancer . Nikos her husband was holding her hand sitting next to her blowing small kisses on her neck and cheek every few moments as she was having her Chemotherapy Sessions. Each time they were leaving that colorless room where pain was residing, her eyes were red and wet, her face was pale and her left arm aching from the needle. They had agreed to kiss shamelessly infront of the doctors and nurses, just before stepping out of the room, and everytime Nikos was whispering dirty words in her ear making her blush and giggle.
Mary stared at her husband's face as he was driving realizing that two Summers had already passed. They were heading to the Airport ready to catch their flight to an exotic resort for a private week away from all, while kids would be with their grandma. All that nightmare had magically disappeared as magically as it emerged and challenged their lives. What remained was their love, the memories, and the scar on her breast.
Alexia's wild winds...
Real life story.
She put on her red bikini with the hidden pocket for the breast form insert, woke up the kids and the three of them went down to the Hotel's dining room to have breakfast.
Her little bugs had no interest in eating or drinking anything at all as long as that meant that their plunge in the pool should be postponed for a couple of hours. She exchanged meaningful glances with the Hotel's owner - a very friendly man around 70 - and then she gave kids her permission to run to the pool.
She was laying beside the pool, protected by a tree's shadow at a half-sleep stage, enjoying the playful sounds of the kids and the birds.
Her mind was traveling to the man she had been flirting with recently. Maybe he'd manage to spend with her a couple of weeks this summer. He didn't seem to be discouraged by her revelation about the mastectomy. But she was prepared to cope with rejection in case he was repelled by the sight of her mutilation just like her ex husband was 5 years ago.
A sudden cool breeze that swept her hat away from her face, brought her back to reality and she instantly stood up, called the kids to get out of the pool and follow her to the beach. It was her turn to play.
She put on her Windsurfing Suit. In 10 minutes she dragged her board and sail to the water. For the next 2 hours, kids were playing at the beach, while Alexia could see the two little colored spots of their hats as she was windsurfing in the Bay heading to the open sea. Having the wind on her back and looking to the horizon was feeling like a bliss. She was HAPPY.
