Help Find Cherrie Mahan And Other Missing Children

Cherrie Mahan went missing on Feb. 22, 1985.

She was last seen getting off a school bus about 100 yards from her home.

Cherrie Mahan was born on Aug. 14, 1976.

This incident occurred in western Pennsylvania, not far from Butler, Pa., and Pittsburgh, Pa.

A bright blue Dodge van was seen in the area. It had a mural of a mountain and a skier.

I'm from western Pennsylvania and recall the news coverage of this abduction. Seems hard to believe it was 22 years ago.

In the city I'm from a little girl was abducted on her way home from a Girl Scout meeting just prior to Halloween.

Her name was Shauna Howe.

Shauna was killed by her abductors. It took the police more than a decade to solve the case.

But they never gave up, and brothers James and Timothy O'Brien were sentenced to life in prison for her murder.

Nothing can bring Shauna back; I know members of her family. The tragedy they had to bear was indescribable.

Pennsylvania State Police won't give up on the Cherie Mahan case, I'm sure.

Cherrie and family, I don't know you. But I think of you often.

Cherrie's 30th birthday was Aug. 14 of last year.

More information on her disappearance can be found here:

Cherrie Mahan Disappearance.

It includes a photo of what Cherie Mahan may look like today.

The people of western Pennsylvania have not forgotten you, Cherrie.

Hard information to report on, but someone must do it so the incidences decrease.

May be we ALL watch over ALL the children in our community and help prevent these tragedies.
