Mazzei: Caste and Wine
Castle of Fonterutoli
To plunge in the green landscape of the Senese Chianti is like to find in an exclusive and rooted route that passes through the intense, endless hugs between noble vineyards and olive groves of sacred hills. Those hills that were forged by the presence of the man and that are perfectly integrated with the simplicity of the parishes, the imposing castles, the stone walls, the ancient stones of the churches and especially to small medieval villages.
And it is here in a magnificent medieval village in the heart of Classic Chianti , which is located the Castle of Fonterutoli, ownership of the Mazzei Marquises since 1435.
On the main square next to the ancient church is the family villa, surrounded by the charming village appartaments, magnificently restored, of various size, that are able to host from 2 to 7 persons.
The Marchesa herself has furnished each apartment with a delightful Tuscan country-house elegance, using the paintings and antiques of the family.
At the edge of Fonterutoli, are located the Osteria of Fonterutoli, which offers Tuscan cuisine using the finest local ingredients, and the Enoteca of Fonterutoli, recently inaugurated, that represents one of the most prestigious wineries in Tuscany.
The pleasant "angle of tasting" of the Enoteca of Fonterutoli offers to wine lovers the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of wines of this wonderful land so to live a total experience in the wine world with tastings and visits to wineries.
The wine of Fonterutoli has a deep purple color, highly concentrated with a very intense and complex scent. It's characterized by toasted and spicy nuances of cherry and raspberry.
