The Bike 2015 Plan is the vision of the City of Chicago and Mayor Daley.  The mayor of Chicago plans to make bicycling an integral part of daily like in Chicago.  This means more bike lanes, more bicycle traffic and more fresh air.

Started for San Francisco Courier Service in 1991, Bicycle Messenger Appreciation Day is a widely recognized day of appreciation for bicycle messengers.  This day is October 10.  Next year will be a special on, since it falls on 10/10/10.  The second city to recognize Bicycle Messenger Appreciation Day was Toronto in 1997.  The push by bicycle messengers in Toronto was so strong that the messengers successfully lobbied the government to accept their daily food intake as a write off, just like how fuel in an automobile is a business expense.  Perhaps Chicago will recognize this opportunity.  Wait, it's Cook County, this highest taxed county in the United States.

Chicago Messengers Services are something that is vital to a healthy economy.  The bike messengers provide a valuable service to this city and are well under-recognized.  It is a blessing that cities like Chicago and mayor like Daley are contributing to greener, safer and healthier city.
