A fun weekend for kids & parents in the Chicago area
If you're looking for a fun way to spend the day with your children, consider checking out the Chicagoland Kids Expo. It's an annual event hosted in Schaumburg, IL and it has tons of entertainment for children and parents. At the expo you will find information from local businesses, activities for your kids to do, live entertainment, and tons of character costumes walking around for you and your children to meet. It's a great way to spend the day, or weekend if you didn't get enough of it the first day. Characters of Character was fortunate enough to return to the expo for a 2nd year in a row, and we had a blast!

Do'er Duck's Biggest fan!
A story about a student from 2005 who never forget Do'er Duck
Back before Characters of Character formed as a nonprofit organization, my mom used the program in the classrooms and schools that she was working at. One year, 2005 to be exact, my mom had a student named Megan who was obsessed with Do'er Duck. She attached herself to that Character so much so that for Halloween that year she had her mom, Jennie, create a Do'er Duck costume!
Fast forward to 2011. Thanks to social networking sites Megan found my mom online. During their conversation it was brought up that we would be attending the 2011 Chicagoland Kids Expo, and Megan was quick to volunteer to help. When she fell in love with Do'er Duck, he wasn't quite 'alive' (no costumes existed at that time). When she found out that our Characters were appearing in costume she jumped at the chance to help in any way that she could. The photo above shows Megan from 2005 in the homemade Do'er Duck costume, and on the right is her standing next to Do'er Duck in 2011.
Personally, I couldn't be more excited to see that after all of these years she still remembered every Character, every trait, and every thing that these Characters taught her. It just goes to show you what a positive impact these Characters really do have on the children that they are introduced to.

Making your own music video
We know that it's not the 'best' video, but it sure was fun! We were lucky enough to find a company at the 2011 Chicagoland Kids Expo who offers a service of creating your very own music videos. They have tons of other rentals available and if you're interested in starring in your own video, check them out here!
